Hi,

I have lots of close up hi-res photos I have taken of different textures and I want to create some custom brushes in pshop. While I understand how to define the texture, use it with dual brush etc in the brush settings dialog I'm not getting the results I want. I think it's because I'm not preparing the photo well enough in the beginning.

I've seen some tut's which suggest adjusting threshold levels of your image and then inverting but it's not giving me the right effect. Does anyone have any good tut links or tips please?

Also could someone clarify what is the difference between making a brush say of bark and using a standard brush and imported texture through the dual brush setting?
