Look. Dhab's finally updated ok? Happy now? All those people demanding an update should just get stuffed. Personally, I'd like to see Dhab just not update anymore and see you guys suffer. You shouldn't care so much if one person you don't even know doesn't update his site. It may take a minute to update, but it takes time to make tutorials, draw another masterpiece and put up a forum. I usually find that the majority of ppl that demand for a person to update their site, don't even HAVE a site of their own. They don't know that it is actually pretty hard to produce a quality site in a short period of time. The bottom line is, Dhabih's got a life, he's got a full time job and he gets free chips. Ok?

Oh yeah, the work at goodbrush.com is stunning...
I've never seen inferno, best check it out, hm?

yep, good stuff, great reflections etc.
I checked out some of the other work that was submitted to this years Assembly GFX compo, and I must say it was stunning. I thought a face in one piece was a photo at first, but then I looked at the in progress shots, and realized that wasn't the case...
Then again, a lot of these people have been doing GFX for 10 years or so.

Craig Mullins (goodbrush.com) is definately my favorite digital artist and someone I look up to a great deal. After seeing his page a few months ago, i totally began experimenting with different ways of drawing in photoshop.

He kinda uses photoshop as a canvas and paints like oils by putting in the light and dark values and color really generally and then goes back and begins defining the shapes, which ends up looking a lot nicer than outlining something in black and coloring it in. I had saved a bunch of steps for a drawing i was working on,hoping to use those in my next how-to thing, showing some things i'd learned from talkin with craig, but the damn HD crash screwed that up. I'll do that for the next pic i draw though.

After a bit of experimenting I realized he's right, it IS best to sketch with colour, especially in PS, where you can just paint over a spot limitlessly.

Hey dhabih, congrats on getting the message board up. Its quite spiffy. I can see why it took so long. My apologies as i was one of the biggest whiners about it. quick question tho: are you planning on doing a full blown tutorial any time soon? Id love to see how that jack picture or tempest evolved. In any case, sorry for the bitching that ive been doing.
To affected that posted about the gfx compo, is there a url where we could check it out? it sounds cool.

immi, Yeah, with the next drawing i do i'll save the image as i progress on it, and then create a new tutorial based off it. i'm not sure when this'll happen though. But i'll do it with the next new image I draw.

Well, they've changed the site, so I was unable to find the images...
Try your luck at http://www.assembly.org
or possibly http://www.scene.org
No, found it!
ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/parties/1999/assembly99/grfx/

Nippon steel was the one I thought was a photo. Well, the face.
'Veejays' is great, too, and some others as well.

A big congrats. to Dhabih for this great BB!

Hello, graphicians!
I've seen there have been some questions about that Assembly gfx-competition...so I found it right to write about the IRC-channel on IRC-net (irc.stealth.net) called #pixel. There you can "talk" to alot of ppl doing both 2d-/3d-graphics and also the ppl attending gfx-compos such as the one at Assembly.

I've also got 2 questions for Dhabih.....How do you find the perfect skin-color? Do you just experimenting till you find the suitable color or do you know the exact rgb-values?

Best regards!

Perfect skin color is something i just play with until it looks right. There is no set values since each picture would be different based on the surrounding light values and such. And even within a face, its never all the same color. there are shades of tan, pink, brown, etc...

(btw, normally the other forum would be the place to ask that question )
