Fantastic sketch laps!

You've got the contrast and shadows just right.

However, perhaps the character is leaning too much on the weapon - perhaps if you brought the legs in a bit it would look more relaxed and less like she actually _needed_ to lean on the pike.

Otherwise, great stuff!

yes, that's what I was thinking of too, that she leaned too much on the weapon...
hmm..I might do something more out of this..so..can move the righ leg a bit..
and maybe even add some colours in there...

thanks for the comment..

I think ceenda's right - the figure looks like he or she is leaning on the weapon. The line through the figure's center of mass should be balanced on one or both feet.

Cool design, though.

Yes, I agree, I think it would look a bit better if the staff was leaning instead of the girl. It looks, though, like she's putting more pressure on the staff than she would really need to support her own weight. I can almost see her using it to hold some poor sap, lying prone on the ground, at bay.

I liked the first one better. Everything is now - to my taste - a bit too vertical, and less interesting to look at.

Another approach to "correcting" the pose might have been to tip the staff to the left a bit and really play up the "leaning" aspect of the sketch - make her look battle-weary instead of looking like she's just striking a pose. Give it some emotion.
