Here is something I recently did as a test for an animated piece.
Mozeman did this neat drawing of the guy. I inked and painted him and threw together this cheap background (an hour). I originally was going to do a much more impressionistic background, but oh well; it's just a test
Sorry, I try not to post images for the sheer hell of it, but I thought this one was sorta neat.

Any inspiration behind the piece?
It wouldn't look out of place in Spawn.

The guy looks like a snake! Awesome job, you can tell alot by just looking at him. In my opinion, that's not an easy thing to do.
show us some more

Rinaldo: Thanks. Er, uh, I used Adobe Illustrator for this. Ordinarily, for animation, we mechanical pencils for cleanup. The Illustrator brush tool works ok for this kind of thing.
Axl: Yeah, I guess it looks a little Spawnish. Heavy Metal was more of a motivator; he client wanted to see something in that style.
Burnout: The f'd up hand is my job. Screwed it in the inking.
Francis: Jeepers, I dunno.
Rinaldo: What are you trying to say?!?
Samdragon: Thanks. I do tons of stuff I don't, or can't, post. Most of it's not that exciting, since the forum seems to focus on concept work (full paintings and whatnot).

Aliasmoze-I can't believe you say this-not posting for sheer hell of it. That is why this place exists is it not? Please post. I enjoy the work you and your brother do, and you guys haven't been posting much at all lately. Kinda a bummer. Your ship thread(oh, and lotors rant long ago) got me to sign up, then ya'll bail just messing round, in a serious light...hehe. Post dammit, This one is very interesting. I really like the stylization of the character.
I guess the number of thread are going to go up with the number of newbees. Is it just me, or have there been a whole new, kinda like generation of new forum dwellers. I aint talking shit, I like it. I think this forum might be one of the few art stops on the www that gets the traffic it does. Makes me think we should be getting more unique tutorials up on it. Bring even more faces. And help the regulars here already, there is a great potential here for a new generation of really amazing, well trained artisans. Anyway, this is sort of reminding me of the Nute Rockney booster speech, gonna get my soap box and shluff off now...
Nice art Alias, and Mr. Moze, I really hope to see more... |

Thanks Fred (blushing)
We should be able to post a lot more stuff soon. We've been busy working on some shows and we've got an all new inhouse one. The stuff Aliasmoze is posting is for a potential client (just style guides, which is why we're able to post it). But if we're able to post some stuff from the work we do there (if we get it), it should be really interesting.

Mozeman, damn you got a big signature.
Fred, we'll try to post more stuff. I usually just stick my head in and respond to stuff. Plus, I've become just an advice whore in the forum. As such, I mainly try to pick up info from you and Spooge and others on painting. To a degree, I try to avoid TOO much posting, so I can concentrate on my art in an internal way.
Yeah, there are lots of new people. That's only a good thing. I just hope the high schoolers realize how golden this forum is. I wish I had it when I was sixteen. |
