Okay, so its only about a year old, but I've never posted it here before.
I did this one mainly as an experiment to see how far I could get faking global illumination using area lights. It kind of turned into a nice still life, and I recently took second place in the Tomorrow's Masters competition with it.
http://www.critical-depth.com/masters/index.html
All done in Hash A:M, with textures from Corel Photo-Paint 7. The plants were modeled by hand.
You can see more of my work at http://www.bprince.com , though only the digital gallery is up at the moment.
What d'y'all think?

A small (seven artist) studio in Utah called Eggington Productions. About the only project we've done that's been released is Rampage Through Time for PSX (just the art, can't take credit for the archaic engine). We've done stuff for a PS2 game as well as preproduction on a couple feature films, but that stuff's still NDA'd pretty tight. We did a lot of work on the Paw Island animation test that you can see here:
http://www.pawisland.com/trailer/index.html
I did all of the character shaders and the bulk of the lighting. The whole thing was produced in less than a month as a proof-of-concept.
There's a web page for us at http://www.eggington.net, but it hasn't been updated in a long time.

I love how you made (faked/emulated?) a beautiful radiosity effect with this image. There is light everywhere!!!
That plant is well modelled. It looks totally random to me. No cookie cutter leaves as far as I can see
And that multicolored noise produces a nice effect throughout the whole image Thanks for showing off your stuff! |

I always had prejudice against 3d (maybe I havent seen enough stuff yet). And I always enjoy when any of my prejudices is destroyed.
Your stuff is cool! (no, its warm and thats the point : )) |

I love that picture Balistic! The atmosphere in that room is great, Volumetric lighting/dust is awesome when done right, when done wrong...eh...heh. Anyways I think it's great! |

Very nice, I like that one a lot more than the image that won. (I like 3rd place more than the one that won too)

Yeh, what's everyone says, I think you know what you're doing with lightning. Texturing is also well done. I didn't think you could squeeze something like that out of AM.
Sumaleth: Seriously, I like any of those images better than no.1. Maybe I just can't absorb bizarre imaginary. I'm confused

Thanks for all the kind words guys . . . how this forum has escaped troll infestation is a mystery to me.
I'm at the point where I feel pretty confident about my lighting and texturing, so for my next major piece I'm going to try to develop my models a little more . . . maybe even try a character or creature. Looking back at older work, the thing that always seems the weakest are my models . . . modeling is like pulling teeth to me. I do just enough form to get by and then light the hell out of it . . . I've gotta move away from that.
Dunno why I'm rambling about this though . . . its late and I just saw a friend I haven't talked to in years . . . my mind's churning
