You are you trying to relate the top three diagrams and the bottom diagrams but they quite clearly show different things. The top digrams show what happens if somebody is looking straightahead of them ... |

Well if you want to look at artists that paint satin I would sugest looking at ingres as he is possibly closer to your style than sargent is and paints cloth sooo well.
