Im kinda in a bind here, and i dont know what to do... im making a site, a gaming site. It needs to be updated frequently with the same layout for each addition to the site. I have used news scrips in the past and basicly i want to do something like that, where i have a form to fill out to add in a review for a product. I have used PHP before, but never pearl. I have never coded for either, and i want to know what language i should learn... PHP or pearl? im not even sure if pearl can do what PHP does. Im sorta leaning toward PHP right now, because i've seen what i can do. Oh, and can you recomend any good books, cuz i got 50 bucks to blow at barnes and nobles. (a HUGE bookstore) thanks.
Oh and if you dont want me posting here  then can you direct me to a good html/scripting forum? |

PHP is the way to go, perl is a dinosaur IMHO. PHP and MySql database work very well together, they are both fairly easy to use too. Books... Professional PHP programming comes to mind.

PHP definitely is the way to go...
It's way easier to handle and just PERFECT for what you're up to...

Hehe PERL is a dinosaur.
That's just funny as hell.
Anyway PHP may be the way to go. ASP could be a way to go. There's a lot of choices these days. You can also use javascript to include headers and footers (almost all browsers from netscape 4 and ie 4 and up will succeed on this (anyone using less is stuck about 4 years in the past and there are really few people using that, since people that have been on the net that long usually know how to get a newer browser by now)
As for PERL...only someone who does not know how to code (for real) would say it is a dinosaur. Hate to attack people outright, but linux and other *nix servers would not include PERL and C in their base installs if they were outdated.
