I would like to start by saying that this is not your typical inflammatory post that you have seen in the last few days.
I have been reading this forum since the middle of August and have joined this month. I know that this is undoubtedly the best convergence of great artists on the Internet. From the superstars like Spooge, Fred, Dhabih, Micke, Joachim, Liquid!, Jason and others who never fail to give sound advice and produce amazing art. To the stars of tomorrow like Chapel, Rinaldo, Skeezer, Sumaleth, Isric, Frost, Tinusch and others (sorry if some of you are already stars or, missed a couple of you) who provide something that is much more valuable than the above mentioned. They (you) are here everyday helping people with as much or less talent than yourselves, not for personal gain but to further this field and to learn from everyone. I know what one or two of you might be thinking and no, your comments don't go unnoticed. I have seen people react to your comments and critiques. I can say for myself that I don't blame anyone for skipping posts. I have done it myself to see some of the aforementioned peoples work. What can I say it's human nature, I want to see quality stuff and you guys provide it (along with many others). I have never joined anything on the Internet before, Chats, Forums, Clubs etc. until this one. As I'm sure all of you agree the pull of this Forum is strong. Unfortunately some of you are right, this place is imploding and you don't have to be registered since Oct 99 to recognize it. The bad part is you don't have to be a genius to see the reason. We are doing it to ourselves, when someone posts something inflammatory a good many of the members feel the need to respond. There are plenty of recent examples so I won't point any out. I know this is harder in application than in text format but "DONT RESPOND" possibly some of you could take my stance on this. I read all of the ill posts and when anyone of the above mentioned answers with an appropriate remark I consider it closed. I believe that in some cases seniority rules (it's just my opinion).
I'm sorry to run on If you believe any of this then take an active roll in the preservation of your Forum. This IS yours not mine, I've been here for only a few weeks but, I will stay as long as this thing breathes and I will continue to post my artwork. When I post I promise to always consider my artwork as finished as my abilities allow, I believe that this speaks to the respect I have for everyone here to not expect someone to finish my work for me, you could call it a WORK ETHIC of sorts. I do believe that all others should consider this as well when they look at their pieces on their desktops (again just my opinion).
Finally I have no opinion on splitting the Forum. I haven't been here long enough to render a judgement based on the effects of new people and the way it was in the old days. However, I dont believe in an "ELITE" group, because people like me which I would assume reach nearly the mass majority of this board are left outside of the Pearly Gates of wisdom wondering where their daily mentors have gone. Remember it is the people here daily that give each other inspiration. Yes, Spooge and Fred do come and when they do they make everything right with the world of Digital Art. However, you guys keep the fire burning everyday. Do me a favor, don't loose faith, your collective will is stronger than turmoil that this place is going through right now.
I would like to finish by saying thanks to everyone for helping me when I have asked. I really appreciate it.
Thats my two cents
I know, I know
-RANDOM MUSINGS-
I do sincerely apologize.
Thanks
-Phil

well said.
i've been following this place for a long time now, and even though i don't post as often as i'd like, i've found it to be invaluable for (more or less) one-on-one tips and critiques. It's also kinda wacky and incredible that some of my idols are on the same forum.
and i will have to join in Fianchetto's thanks to all that help. It takes precious time to critique and reply to artwork.
we need stickers or something too.

*sticks nose in air, pats self on back*
I'm an up and coming star....hehe..
Thanks Fianchetto, and I agree with you. I mean about...well all the stuff you said.
I think Spooge, and Fred, and Francis, and Dhabih, are currently leading by example, its just that no one has noticed.
I think something has been slowly dwindling from this forum and that is R-E-S-P-E-C-T ...just a little bit. heh.

YAY i agree with everything you say. i've been reading the forum for ages. along time before i joined. and i've see the same thing happen all over the internet. forums colapsing casue pll kept fighting and newbies keeped flooding the forums and being really rude. .. and no offece 2 newbies ( i'm one) but some newbies are really rude. you know who you are. but yeah... anyway i hope everything works out .. one idea is 2 close the forum to new users for a while. but still have read access for everyone..
blah .. yeah you've heard all that before ...

I think all of you have it... It is RESPECTthat I think we are talking about.
Yeah Skeezer, you've got some pretty strong stuff. Yes, all of them are leading by example as well as people like Pierre, there's a lot to be learned on how to properly handle sharp, biting criticism from his actions a couple of months ago.
Sorry to keep pushing this up. I just wanted to answer that.
