Time to this before I fiddle it to death;

Another green ogre vs low-tech human warrior? Yeah, I like the theme.

This was fairly heavily influenced by Spooge's Battle pic - low contrast, muted colors, and lots of detail that hopefully suggests more of an environment than was really drawn.

Not really a finished image (and I don't intend to spend any more time on it) but crits are certainly welcome.

Row.

He Sumaleth great picture. There is only one thing I would change. I know that you wanted low contrast but in my opinion the picture would get deeper (don't know the right word). Did you think about adding some of this grey-brown fog in the foreground?

Ohh I just saw that the feflections on the swords might be a little bit to light because there's no white in the picture elsewhere.

Hey Suma! Really like the colors on this one. Quite nice, but the difference in axis of both characters are perhaps too exposed, almost as if they were of pulled by two different gravitational sources. Eh, always so picky aren't I? =)

Nice pic sir! =)

Like the added skulls. The ogre be wearing that guy on his belt soon right? Anyway.. yah, the ogre is tilting one way and the man another.. looks like their both off balance. HEhe Its all good. Nice murky god. But one thing that's really confusing me is the ogres sword... can't figure out how he's holding...why it's so small etc. Sword get knocked out?

nil: You're probably right about needing to add some suggestion of depth between the two characters. I kept thinking that the orge doesn't look as BIG as he's supposed to (compared to the little human skulls he's carrying), and it's probably caused but the fact that the warrior is too 'strong' in the image.

You're probably right about the sword highlights too, although I put those in just to add some highlights to the scene.

Frost; Well as I said on IRC, I really struggle to draw characters, especially in poses other just just "standing". The aim in this image was to suggest movement - the warrior is moving towards us and to out right while the ogre circles to the left. But it's not fast movement so I didn't add in blur lines or anything.

Knowing what I intended, it looks right to me.

evil; The easy answer to your last questions is - the ogre doesn't have a sword. The two swords both belong to the warrior (greedy, but still not the expected victor).

I did look at the position of the ogres hand in the end and think it might look like he was grabbing the warrior, but there's actually supposed to be some distance between them.

And I had spent my alloted time on it. Reguardless of the little niggles, I'm still quite pleased with this image. Oh well.

Row.

I really like the anatomy you gave the ogre, it gives him a stumpy/hairy look. And like Frost said, I think it would've been nice if both characters were standing in the same angle.. but I guess the reason you give is plausible as well.
