Well, one dragon anyway. I just did this sketch earlier today. Spent about 1 1/2 hours on it. I'm thinking of doing a good copy of it
seeing as how the last few pics I've tried to post have been crapping out on me, I sincerely hope that this works.

i like it. the lighting is great. the wings seem a bit odd, though. maybe too stretched by the body? |

This gives off a really warm feeling.
The wings do look a bit awkward. I think they'd look less so if you added a connection between the elbow and the flap of membrane, instead of it just goind around the elbow. In my humble opinion, the best dragon wings I can provide as an example are in this girl's gallery. In particular, check out Bane and Maelstrom. |

nice pic.
I noticed that you chose to render the interference lightwaves from the sun. Interference does always reach their vanishing point along a straight line.
Tru using the selection tool to render the interference lightwaves instead of doing them freehand. You could, by need, use the feather value to softe their edges.
another thing, the dragon's perspective is a bit ambigious. I can see it flying in more than one direction.
Good work! |

Slightlytwisted: Those pics are really good. I do vary my dragon wings quite a bit from drawing to drawing. I have done some like what that person's doing. I don't know if the dragons I've posted have shown those variations, but just take my word for it. I've done many many more.
Usually I try to emulate things more like prehistoric pterosaurs and bats more than anything else, but thanks for the link.
pierre: thanks for the tips I don't usually do light that way and you've helped lots. And I've played with the perpective quite a bit. In the final draft he's probably not going to be there.
Dryfire: thanks! and you're right, they DO kick ass
peter: I'm pretty sure I'll do another version of it. that ones getting a full effort too. none of this 1-2 hour stuff. thanks at lot

Nice! I just love translucent wings...
Only the too uniform "balls" of clouds look a lil odd, IMO.

jaymo, I do know about the clouds.. sadly this kind is a thing that I have a HUGE problem with. I didn't put too much work into them. making them look any better would've taken more time that I was willing to put out yesterday. I'll do them better when I get around to doing anything more than a preliminary.
have a nice day

I love the colors. I can't wait to see if you expand on this more (yes I love dragons...) The only thing I could find a little off was the bent light filtering through the clouds (I don't think light normally bends) and the wings of the dragon look a smidge odd (try making them pointier underneath). |
