too bad, get used to it or give me something better to do with my time.
[edit, interesting point by the way, half of the people on this forum who have a problem with me, the source of their problem that i don't automatically suck micke's, joachim's, dhabih's, spooge's, and whoever else's ass, and don't act all nice and shit when i don't have to. then are those who hate me as a person, who mostly are those who get their asses licked hardcore, and the few that go in to personalities when they know jack shit. i could write tons and tons more about this but i doubt i'll get nothing more than laughter from the people, which is just fine by me, but doesn't really get the point through. if the point isn't made clear with this, then the problem is not me or myself.]

exactly.
you see, the point is, if i post something, newbie fuckos don't say a thing, neither do the Big Respected Cool Guys.
instead what happens is the black/white drawing thread revisited.
it's a shame most of the stuff posted on the forum is pretty sad. and then people wonder why dicks like me post "rude comments" about it, or just plain out non related mumbo jumbo. if they want proper comments, they should give proper work to be commented. if the drawing is a sephiroth made with 5 lines, the responses will be pretty much reflectable from the drawing itself.

faust, there's a difference between giving rude comments with a bad attitude, or something that is constructive which can inspire people to keep on trying.
But, for people and you to faust, this is not about you. You alone (even how hard you try) aren't enough for this forum to turn to crap, as it has. This is more a general thing that is caused by a lot of newcomers and some that has been here long that have totally misunderstood the consept of this place....and that destroys a good place and make some, like f.ex me. not much interested in being here.
But, just for the record faust, if you say that people have behaved bad to you so you will behave like a jerk too, that reallly means that the only reason why you stay here is to fuck things up. Do you really find it so entertaining to try making people leave this place ?

Who said this "all newbies bow before the veterans bullshit" ? Did I miss something somewhere?
Actually here its more often a "I can draw better, so bow for me bullshit"
I agree with faustgfx there.

I have only been here for little over a month now and I am starting to also get disappointed in a lot of the new people. It is like turning into elfwood or something sad like that. I started coming here and posting here because I seen posts from people like Craig Mullins and Liqued, Vortex,Micke,Jochime...many others and it doesnt seem like they are coming around anymore? I thought at first ..wow man a place where actually good digital artists post there work..people in the game industry and even movie and animation. I thought this would attracrt a whole slew of industry people and it would be an insperation fest.
Now in like less then a motnhs time it is getting wierd...all the good people are not posting anymore there are some mediocre people like me showing there work but that isn't going to attract other industry pros here. I know this post won't make a diffrence to anyone but I thought I would state my opnion...there like assholes ya know. Ohh and I thought I would throw this in. I have been in contact with people like Brom and Doug Chaing ...they have actually checked this place out in the last month..to bad this has probebly been the forums worst month yet...guess we won't be seeing them around here...
Ohh and to all the forum people out there that still do come here and post and give good feed back thank you very much. People like spooge..micke and jochime and frost vortex..freddio and many others that are still here let's all stick with this and keep the place going strong. I am going to keep posting my work for feedbak because I know there are tons of people here that are good ,it will just take time for all the bored teenagers to filter off and it will be all good again!! |

joachim: like i have said before, the forum gives many many many people alot of entertainment and laugh. thus, it'd be a rather drastical damage to the daily laugh amount if i stopped reading/terrorizing.
like i said, get used to it or figure out a way to ignore it. (that's easy with IE.)

All I can say is be patient. The quality of the posts is cyclical. "Golden Age"s of posts happen every couple of months and then it turns to shit again.
So stick around. |

I agree the forum isn't quite what it was. But I don't blame flames for that. The majority of new art posted now is unfinished, barely-started sketches that should not have been posted. They usual ask for "crits" or "comments," but it's impossible to comment constructively on scriggly lines on a page or a few strokes from Photoshop.
My suggestion is to penalize such posts/posters in a democratic way. Just ignore them. The poster, their posts, until they start posting finished art. |

As another newbie, but long-time reader, I'd like to add my name to the 'this forum is going downhill quick and people are leaving' bunch.
Even this thread is bullshit that has nothing to do with anything. |

Hey all..
First time I post anything in over a month or so. Been checking the forum sporadically only to check for quality work from those worthy few. (Those whom I consider worthy, you know who you are)
I can't be bothered to invest more of my time into this place. Sure I could post my work and use this board as a showcase, but for some reason I'd rather not anymore.
I feel VERY similar to people like Frost, Micke and Joachim. Sad to say this, but it's true.
If Dhabih doesn't implement some restrictions (which he still seems reluctant to do) in some way, I don't see a change for the better. Apparently we can't rely on certain forum members to exercise some restraint. It's always a few who are out to ruin good things for the majority.
Sorry to Dhabih and all the other people here who are serious about their painting. I'd love to contribute actively. I know I promised to write some tutorials to post overhere. I will not follow up on this promise if this forum remains in it's current state.
/signing off..

You guys shouldnt whine that much. This forum's fucking happy-happy joy-joy candyland with glitter and sugar on top compared to 99,9% of the forums out there.

Spitfire, but some of us who've been here for a while remember the days when everyone seemed to be here to teach and learn and share serious art. In the beginning, I came to pick up valuable tips from Fred, Spooge, Micke, etc. and see great art.
Like Danny, I don't feel the need to post much anymore. Not paintings anyway. And coming here usually involves scanning through the first two pages looking for names I recognize. The rest is just a waste of time.
Sure, I've posted plenty of crappy art and useless posts, but only once in a while. Many of the newbies post useless crap constantly, several times a week. This is only the problem, and I think it stems from shift in the pro/amateur presence. I, myself, can't think of a good solution, except to curb my involvement with the forum.
Side note: What's with all the touched-up photos in the guise of paintings?!? Christ, STOP, STOP, STOP, people. It's always obvious and doesn't help anyone.

Sure hope Dhabih's comming down the mountain with a few commandments written in stone, sometime soon..
As much as people hate restrictions, rules, guidelines, laws, etc... I have to think that such things are needed now.
The question is, how do we not hinder the freedom to be creative, and to speak openly of our opinions, with such rules and regulations? If we go much longer without moderators to govern this forum, we continue to post in anarchy. People will start out giving constructive criticism, behaving nicely.. but soon, just as with many places in this world without government of some sort, it turns to chaos.
Are we forgetting what this forum is about? Is it to showcase our finest works in the hopes to obtain god-like status, or is it to gain constructive criticism of our works in progress? Is it for beginners, intermediates, or advanced artists? Or is it a scribble board. How do we moderate what is and isn't acceptable?
I always kind of thought people came to this board to be apprenticed or guided by some of the more technically skilled individuals out there. But there are only so many... and they are only people who have lives. Who do they look to for guidance? Most often I just see god-like praise.
Im not sure what I'm getting at.. but I think we're forgetting what this forum is about, or maybe we never knew.. and the newer members dont often know either. Thats something I think definately has to be established, no matter how hard it would be to do so.
