"How much am I worth?" is a difficult question to answer. If your working as a contractor or freelance concept artist, its even more so.

Some things to consider however,

1. Your artistic content. It's your image, and you've spent time in its creation.

2. Tools used. The software your using is expensive, and should be considered in your pricing. Also, upgrades, support ect.

3. Are the purchasers just going to use this as concept stuff, or in marketing materials, (This includes posting it on the web). If so, this should also be considered.

4. The final thing I can think of, if this is an ongoing relationship, and more work is to come out of it. You might want to push that, and decrease your price slightly so you can get more work. The bigger picture may be worth $8000, while one concept image may be worth $1500. (just guessing at prices.)

5. What is it worth to them? You might as well go high initially. They might say, "Sure." in which case thats good for you! If not, you get to learn the Art of Negotiation which is allways fun.

one of my teaches told me that the best thing to do is to realistically say, "I want to be make $X." And then look at where you are currently, and again realistically say, "Right now I'm "here" in my work, and in relation to where I want to be, that makes my work worth $X.

Personally, after I have my base cost, I add on 20% of the total. Thats my fudge factor, and generally my major profit margin. However, my pricing is based off of web work, and has yet to make its way into game concept art, or other related fields.

I hope these suggestions help.

I never seen that guy you linked to but damn he's good :O .. I have found that a lot of freelance people charge somewhere between 100-150/ approved design and that is middle ground.
