I am about to purchase the wacom intuos a5 USB but now wacom is selling the intuos 2 line... which is a bit more expensive but seems to have the same features...
I know where to gat an intuos 1 tablet....
Do you believe I should get the intuos 2 or the normal one... is there any difference?
Maybe the future drivers will be only for the intuos 2?

i did a research on it and there's not much difference at all. My suggestion is to buy version 1, its much cheaper.

I think it's mostly cosmetics. A fancier pen, different colors, and an improved mouse?

apeaking of the funky new pen, does anyone know if it's compatible with the intuos1? as far as i can see it looks like it should be, seeing as the new intuos doesn't seem to be much different, but i just want to make sure before i start looking to get a replacement pen...

I had the same question about the differnece between the Intuos/Intuos2. This is what the rep from Wacom had to say. The Intuos2 has everything that it's predecessor had plus the following feautures:

-Cushioned, contoured grip area reduces grip force by up to 40%. Ideal balance and weight.
-DuoSwitch (on pen) is removable for graphics-intensive work.
-3-button 2D Mouse with scroll wheel bundled with every 4x5 & 6x8.
-New 5-button 4D Mouse with self-centering wheel bundled with every 9x12, 12x12 & 1218.
-Works in Boot & Safe Mode – complete mouse replacement for your computer. (USB only)
-Independent settings for mouse speed & acceleration.
-4x5 & 6x8: Photoshop Elements as well as the standard Painter Classic & PenTools
-2540 lpi, "oversampling" (whatever that means) for smoother data.

Sorry dude, according to the Wacom rep, the fancy new grip pen for the Intuos2 "supposedly" works only on the Intuos2 and not the Intuos...
