You can, but it's an asshole.

Just go get an FTP program (cuteftp, ws_ftp, whatever). They're less than a meg and much, much easier.

I am not that stupid! I need to be able to do it in a web browser because the computer(s) I am uploading with do not allow software to be installed.

They are right, IE isn't the best FTP program to use, I would suggest SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com)

But here is how you login using FTP on IE:

ftp://YourUserName:YourPassword@YourFTPAddress

What Chris said, and then copy the files from HDD to browser, or drag n' drop 'em.
