el caseron:
I guess the picture telling is a good idea, but I for one can't wait until everyone has done their part and paint from there on.
I paint when the inspiration hits me, otherwise it's not fun.
And without organizing it will go mixed up as multiple people will try to take the plot further from the same step. So, I like these draw club like threads more, where people paint however they want.

janne, that's a really fish-eyed perspective you got there. Doesn't impress as much as your painter pics, although it does look like the Volkswagen Beetle :]. Aanyway, great you posted in the mech thread as well. About the perspective though, the nose part and the topmost part of the mech don't seem to share the same vanishing point. edit: oh and btw. if that's the clip of the machine gun we are seeing on the mech, how the hell is it reloaded in a combat situation? :)

frost, a little too neon colors for my liking, but the underlit mech does look nice. Can't really make out what part is sinking into the pool of light. The shadow parts are my favorite in the pic, lot's of stuff can be seen.

AAaaand....... about flushgarden, hehe, it's not like all the world's talented digi painters are already part of the forum, so one more can easily "just come out of nowhere" and amaze us. I'm not sure why I'm even replying to these, I guess I just find it amusing :].

...meanwhile on the planet where detail is low , the sky is white and the perspective is wrong...a new breed of mecha is born...having evolved from pure machine to containing biological parts...look at what ai has done....its evolving you fools!!! we're doomed...all doooommed!!!

Wow, what a fantastic thread. I was going to throw out some props but there's far too many great pics to name them all.

I thought I had better post mine here (anyone reading the WIP forum will likely have seen this);

Important note; I only added the mech to this image, the original is a WIP image by Danny which can be found here;
http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000041.html

I ran into some difficultly drawing the left side of the mech so that it was in perspective and matched the right side, but otherwise this was great fun to paint.

Row.

Von Ackamon: Company D 5th of Nova

Normally I just draw portraits. But I've got a strange feeling this time out. So I decided to document events in my journal. This morning we entered the northern wastes. Cap decided we would do the first quarter on foot to work our legs a bit. Company D is a mech unit with 6 troop support. We've been on this mission for 2 weeks now and only lost one man. I guess we're lucky. For now.

That's a nice one Joachim! Your skills never stops to amaze me! Keep it up! And yes, we should conquer the world!! It's so damn cold up here anyway, we could use some land longer south.. Let's discuss the strategy over a beer?

n8:
Haha! You sure warned us, the day my computer grows a pair of eyes I know I was fool to let AI roam free.

Kolt:
It's great you're trying instead of just being a bystander. Keep taking part in this kind of threads, look through some of the members' homepages to see how they do things and you'll learn :).

Rinaldo:
Missed your mech, the atmosphere looks really nice. I would've liked to see a bigger and somewhat more detailed version.. that's like a teaser thumbnail. Maybe I don't like the guy cropping out of the pic that way.

Sumaleth:
LOL! I find it hilarious you saw so much trouble painting that mech just to do that to Danny's pic. You didn't happen to make an individual pic of the mech?

dreddawg:
Like it, but it doesn't look finished to me! Back to work :), what you've go so far looks good.

pixtur:
Hehe, those look really miniature! Nice painting, although I'm not sure if your intention was to make it look like they're standing on the edge of the bathroom sink :). Lovely.

Joachim:
Nice! I've gotta say I'm liking the direction you are going with your human paintings, really convincing. The soldiers remind me of a spooge repaint where a tank was going to run over a soldier guy helping his friend.
The mech is also of a 'different' design, and looks like infantry ain't gonna gun it down easily.
And thanks for keeping the line drawing on my mind, I promise I'm going to give time to it and I'll post again when significant progress has been made :).

frost: Your's is lovely, great to see you painting, it seems you take long pauses then post a cluster of pics.
The light, the helmet, the bground I like, but the face lacks something, it reminds me of a 3d model somehow. Looks like a doll or something, can't put my finger on it.

Silencer:
I think I speak for all Scandinavia by saying that no nation will conquer us, and any attempt will be severely punished. Oh btw. congrats on the new words on your national hymn, mother russia!

Let's see if I can get one more mech done before undone school stuff crushes me. :)

Wow...Is mine so bad Gecko that you can't comment on it?
Dang, everybody is doing an awesome job, and for people like me...well, at least we're trying
Nice Joachim...I love that design, looks like this robot from that show Battlebots (dunno if you're familiar) on Comedy Central.
Keep up the good work!

had to do another in painter. sadly this turned out almost as crappy as the first one:

frost: that looks really nice. it's good to see you experimenting with values and light. i'm not sure if i understand what is happening in the center(where the light meets something), though.

sumaleth: this is very good. i like the design a lot!

Janne: Cool! I think it would have been nice to have a harder lighting scheme because he is firing his weapon -- harder shadows, brighter and more uniform lit surfaces. Bah, I don't know any more (je suce).

El Caseron: check out my website ( http://www.3dpalette.org/~frost ) and look at the images posted - they are in their original sizes. If I had a faster computer, I'd be doing them in higher resolution. They are all 72dpi (default screen res). A tutorial? Hmm, it takes a lot of time to do a tutorial which people can understand, and a lot of concepts need to be established... there is no one single tutorial to teach you everything. I might write up some stuff about a few things like lighting, reflection, etc... but then again, there are people out there who have already done a better job at this and who understand this better than I do.
