here's some maps/location consept art I've doodled. Nothing much, but I want to try to post a few things more from time to time. And, most of what I've done, I cannot show yet.
Btw, if anyone have some good tips or crits, please don't hesitate...Backgrounds of this sort ain't exactly "my area" ...

Hi Joachim!
Both look nice. One thing though. The first one feels alittle "scatterd" try bringing all the elements closer together. It might look like this in real life, but in a 3D-scene it would look better if everything was closer together.
Just a thought.

Joachim,

I enjoy seeing these types of works of art from you. The style reminds me of Ralph McQuarrie's concept paintings for the original Star Wars films, especially his environments.

Superb!

Nice ones, Joachim. Real good atmosphere in both of them. You're really nailing the mountains.

Hey joachim.
Both look very nice! But I think you overdid it a little with the saturation of the cool shadows on the first one. Maybe something like this?

And I'm not sure the shadows should be that dark on the second picture (unless there is a strong lightsource to the left). But thats just my opinion. Anyways, great work, keep em coming!

btw. for what game is this for? Have you started working on a new project at Innerloop already? I'm still playing project igi hehe.

Despite what others may say-- I think the colors are perfect. My only problem may actually not even make sense: Would there be such jagged mountians in that formation with no other mountians around it? I've actually only seen snow 3 times in my life, so I'm most likely wrong. Great work though!

for some reason the size of the trees in comparison to the mountains makes them look like little hills to me.

I think they look quite good Joachim, honest. They're done fast, but they're nice.

Glad to see you posting... nice to see your work. =)

hey, thanks for kind replies anc good comments.
Actually, I should have mentioned that the reason for that "top" view landscape actually is a conspet idea for a game map. And, the reason for that big weird mountain to be placed stright into a flat ground is on purpose. It's called bluemountain and has a special purpose...what purpose, son't ask me

totally, spooky, tommy, daz199, frost, thanks for nice compliments

simon, good point, thanks. It's actually supposed to be some game map, like I mentioned, so it must be kinda like elemnts together..but I'm sure it's possible to solve it better than I've done here, so I'll give it a nother shot

binke, good point. Maybe something inbetween yours and mine would be good ? ..I'll experiment a bit with that.

neofun, agree, it's intentional, but I still see your point.

edible snowman, I agree. Actually I had that in mind, as if there would be a character on top of thi, it would be as high as half the mountain and bigger than a tree But, I guess that's the way it works with games. But, still those trees could be far better defined.

milkman, hehe.
