Hi.
Some of you may remember the concept art I posted a little while back.. Well I have another one. It's not an illustration, It's graphic design, a wallpaper was the simplest medium that I could think of.
Here it is, a fun image that is meant to be exciting, have movement, and look cool.
It's a wallpaper like I said, so that image is just a teaser.. to see the fullsize go here:
Fullsize 1024*768 wallpaper
It's 275kb... but I think it's worth the wait. (<<of course I would)
I'm looking for you opinions, impressions, what you like? and what you don't? |

loooks very cool, especially the lightpart in the middle, dividing the photo from the abstract part at the left.
hmm, but the greenish-colors in the left suck a little bit with .gif compression )
nonetheless, good wp. |

Thx for your comments..
The greenish part at the left is actually pretty well the green it is supposed to be.. hmm.. I was experimenting with that colour.. its a tricky one.
Anyone else have a problem with that? |

*Ahem* Seems nobody else has been kind enough to comment..perhaps the 380 or so comments I have made for other people mean nothing?
Anyway.. for those of you who are interested, I have updated the pic a little bit, very minor alterations.. you probably won't notice..
The editor was very impressed, and says that there is defintely room for this sort of design work (among other styles)... in the magazine. |

I think it is tight.....there is alot of motion and emotional vibe that it generates...i think the colours all morph nicely....and well its not an eyesore.....even the brighter parts of it are done to an extent you dont have to wear sunshades to look at it...
anyways I think this is tight...good work |

I'm really no expert at this kind of work, since I have no talent what so ever in making it myself... and it's not the kind of picture you can crit from just looking at the world around you (faulty anatomy, odd lighting, etcetera).
I like the colours, though - that much I can say. Turquoise and that blue really works well together (two of my favourite colours to use in pictures actually). I really think that the arrows in the middle are so obvious and strong that they totally take my attention away from the neater things in the picture (like the smoky bit on the top of the image, above the arrows - for some odd reason, I very much like that part).
I don't know what else to say. Nice work, keep it up, cheerio, and ta! |

i love graphics with cool typo! u arranged it in a very interesting manner. i also like how u set the different enviroments into relation. one can't read the small paragraphs at all, but i suppose that was intention . great job!
btw.: is this oakland bay bridge? i lived in SF a while ago and i really miss the city, so that's extra cool! |

Thankyou for your comments.. I admit it is not what you usually see around here. Therefore it may be hard to judge against anything else.. But I value the opinions of ppl here at the forums. So I posted it anyway.
KiNgStiNg:
Thx.. I tried to keep it bearable... not too gawdy, because you can if you're not careful. The words you use to describe it.. motion, emotinal vibe.. Just the things I was looking to hear.. I wanted to know if it really did that! Looks like I'm making some ground at least. Thankyou.
Enayla:
Abstract.. it's not that easy to relate to anything.. If it looks good and feels right then it probably is. With all art, or design... It's all about the aesthetic. (<< and I mean visual beauty, as well as every other beauty. It's all a creation that reflects our understanding of the world.)
I like the colours too. It happened by accident that turquoise... and I realised straight away its potential.. I have never tried using it before.. it's a great combination to play with.
The arrows are mostly supposed to be the center of attention... Although I also can see why they are too powerful.. they don't seem to fully fit in... something I will consider in the future.
The 'Industrial Light & Magic'.. I had fun with that.. the subtle stuff, smoky kind of atmosphere. Very mystical.. I want to make some sort of shaman picture with those sort of effects.
Perplexer:
Tiny type is intruiging... your not meant to be able to read it so don't strain your eyes! you were right. That panel idea was inspired by Monaux's skinning.. I admire his ability to produce refined and detailed tech panels and future gizmo gfx.
Monaux
check that out too see what I mean.
I think that may be your bridge... it is from Office Professional 2000 clip art. All it says is 'Bay Bridge, Bridge, Structure, Building etc..'
It's gotta be American anyway. |
