Just an older piece, One of my first Photoshop digital pieces for a CCG company like 4 months ago.
I work in painter 6 now, its a world of difference and alot more flowing, unlike this obvious stiff digital piece that screams "I'M DIGITAL". hrhrrhrrhr. And testing out that comixmatrix thingy.
This is the original sketch also done in Photoshop (not scanned)

Hey that's pretty cool. I agree with Awetopsy, I like the uncolered version better.
The guy on the left looks like not only he is getting his chest ripped apart, he is also knocking his head against the wall.
On the colored pic, I thought they were in some type of corridor on a ship, then I started seen that they were on the street.
Looking good, keep on posting. |

well, here's my constructive comments mister.
the creature looks like he has no motion to him. Yeah you can put blood spraying everywhere and all but his torso has no torque to it. Looks like he was just standing still and some people got too close so he raised his forearms. hehehe
what's the one guy in the back? a zombie or just a retard? HEHEHE |

Thanks for the few comments at least everyone. I do appreciate it. Yeah I liked the monotone versions well much better, but thats what usually happens when you have to do a fully rendered sketch. By the time I got to the color (I had to 8 others) I lost all enthsiasm for this piece and it shows. I got paid pretty decent for it (still maintaing all rights). I did have a looser version, but was told it looked to lizard like, these alien characters are like all neck I guess. Thought it would be interesting for others to see Collectable SCi-Fi Card art. I am primarily a game illustrator, and thats what I'll be posting. Not everyone will like the way i might handle a particular subject matter, but then again its always 50/50 no matter where you go or what you do.

I actually like the coloured one better but each to their own type thing. I think with the coloured one, if you tightened up the ground a little it would go a fair way to improving the image.
I personally wouldn't drawn in Photoshop but use a traditional pencil and paper. But you might be great at it however the two characters in the background seem a little 'flat' and could be because of this.
Otherwise colours are good but I think you could use the lights a bit better by having sections of the image a little darker than what you have. |
