Nice picture what did you color it in? Photoshop?
If you wanted to get more lifelike flesh tones try not to use white and black all the time to lighten or darken the fleshtones when you do that, it usually makes the colors weaker instead of darker or lighter flesh. Your pic does seem a little bit muddy
(lotsa gray) ...maybe its just the flesh tone thats like that or you meant to do that, but to get different flesh tones just try mixing different colors. I cant really tell you good colors to use because Im not the best at mixing colors yet but I am studying up on it.
You did do a great job on this piece though, much better than my hands allow me to create

I'm reallly feelin' this piece. The composition is really nice. And how you got the forrest towards the back actually look like it was diminishing.. pretty dope.
They way i get skintones is to just search through photos and whatnot and when I come across a skin town I like I get it into photoshop and just use the dropper tool, but i make sure to pick the lightest color on that particular shade. I then just use that one color and the multiply option. Then I go back and find the next darkest color and do the same.
I'm new to this whole game but that seems to work for me. |

Yes edel that way does work and its not bad, if you know what your doing. Since you said your new to this game, I would suggest not doing that because it will only hurt you more than help your pieces. You should learn how to mix all the different colors before you start doing something like that because you will know what colors to use and learn how to make those skin tones that you see in pictures you use for reference.
That is why I would suggest mixing the colors yourself and work it out that way then once you get the hang of it like that you could go back to using photos if you would still want to...
hope that helps |

Thanks for the crit so far ..
Blade, when you say Mix..do you actually mean Mix hehe, as in you mix colors for your pic somewhere with maybe a smudge tool or something and then use the drop tool to select and then paint ?.

Hehe you could do it that way but it doesnt work quite the same way I am talking about. What you do is use ...whatever brush you want to use and you can even use different layers if you want to then set the brush or spraypaint mode to multiply and just paint over different colors with other colors and use the opacity pressure on the brush...tool and with the layers.
Heh get it yet?.....maybe someone that knows a bit more or can explain it better will |
