i need some crits for this image, i know theres a lot of things wrong with it.

The 'Gargoyle thing' shes standing on is a rush job btw.
(the whole piece was done for some magazine, took off her head for personal reasons.)

The lighting seems off. It looks like there should be a shadow from the gargoyle cast on the body (the lighting looks like a different color for each element, as well).
I also feel the perspective is querky. From the body, I'd say the horizon is right around her shoulders, but the rest of the piece says the horizon is around the bottom of the pic. It's hard to say much more without the head. It often is, though.

I like the design of the figure. Also I think you are working with an interesting light scheme. The composition would be better if you gave the figure her head back, and showed the rest of her left (our right) hand. Since this is basicly a portrait the face of the subject will determine the entire mood of the piece (a smiling face would make this piece totally different than a crying face ect.) You have on the left side of the image, alot of open sky. It would be easy to crop some of that space off and show the rest of the character's hand.

the chest is wrong.. the breasts should be lower. the head of the gargoyle thing should be casting shadows on the lower half of the body.

's coming along tho.

Yeah, i see now wht you guys mean ..
Her head by the way, was taken out because the whole piece was supposed to be a caricature of some local artist... and the head really didnt match the body or the background at ALL.
(not rush work, i just paid too much attention to the leather on her than i did to the caricature... )
she does have an un usually long torso, and her breasts are way too high up her chest ...
damn, i cant believe its gonna be published.
Im gonna be so humuliated !
with all the mistakes ... and i cant believe my art director didnt pick out the mistakes either. arent art-directors supposed to be good artists too ? ... i mean , you HAVE to at least know something about art to be an art-director.

Looks good, possibly just a nitpick or two though, but the left foot looks like it would be sinking down into the ground while her right foot would be on the gargoyles ear?

Possibly could be the 2d angle you've drawn the edge their with no dimension to it, throws off the eye a bit. Just by looking at it currently the ground would have to go down about a foot or two for that angle kinda like a curved 'up' surface to the edge, and then the right foot is propped on the gargoyle's ear which would be really small. I'd be afraid to put to much pressure on that foot afraid to fall off.

The tarzan thread awhile back showed an interesting thing about perspective and horizon lines, that should be the first part of your design because it will set up the rest of your drawing. Craig Mullins had alot of nice work in that one.
