Had some time last night to scan in most of my traditional work. I am planning to create a personal site when I do get some more time.
Anyway here is one, guess who:
Reference was a picture on the monitor screen.

The sense of lighting is really nice but the proportions look exaggerated. Intentional?

Despite the exaggeration of facial elements, which doesn't look *that* bad, I am wondering about the style of your work. Your choice of conte/chalk would suggest a modelling technique which you've done very nicely with your facial left side shades. However, you juxtaposed that with a very harsh line outlining the right side of her face. And then again, created softness again in her sweater. I suggest that you choose which approach you want. If you can suggest the outline of her facial features and softly mold it by blending values, your picture will look quite nice.
Good job. |

This is actually an old drawing I did about a year ago.
The exaggeration was intentional. I was trying to see what I can do to still make her look right.
bluetraveller: This technique I rarely use. It takes quite a bit of time and usually this is what I lack. I have another drawing in this style that I will put on my site when it's done.
The result I found interesting, so sometimes I do tend to lean towards this style.
Thank You for the blending tip. I will give that a shot on my next one, if a chance come along.
Thanks for all the responses.
Cheers

Ya, I'm not sure I like those harsh
outlines. I think it would look better
with a more painterly approach instead
of a drawing approach which the harsh
outlines portray.
I knew who it was right off the bat. |
