Well been lurking around for a long time and have finally decided to post something. This is the first digital piece I have *finished* but have done a fair amount of traditional art (though haven't done anything for the last 4 years due to being lazy at uni). Bought myself a wacom a while back and figured it was time to learn how to use it so any critiques gratfully recieved (Picture was done in Painter). If anyone has any tips on how to pick colours that would be usefull as I am finding it dificult finding the colors I want. I have been just using the Sturation value triangle and not bothering with color sets as I find them a bit hard to use. Lastly would like to say a really big thankyou to people on the forum. Looking at your artwork has been the think keeping me from going mad at work and is finally giving me the inspiration to start painting again (probably a crime ).
btw: the image is a picture of Rex Stout (no idea who he is) taken from a book called The art of portraits and the nude which I had lying around. |
