Well, it's certainly different from your "normal" work, Phil.
Is it an advertisement of some sort?

ps. Why the name change? |

Boy... my cover didn;t last long... guess you checked the profile...
Well... I wasn't really trying to totally hide the identity - if I were, you wouldn't have found it...
At any rate, This is a totally and completely different style that I've been thinking about for some time and have decided to dive into... So, you didn't say what you think about it????
I signed up tyhe new name because it is so different... thinkwink = this ... eyewoo = that . |

Very nice style eyew... uh I mean thinkwink.
Cool name to boot.
I think this is more or less what I'd like to do once I graduate from OCAD. It's a style that is very popular in magazines and stuff. Great colours and a nice painterly cartoon look to it. I like'd to see more of that style. Great inspiration. |

You know, I thought of you the minute I saw this--something to do with the colours, I think. Imagine my *cough* surprise when Malachi outed you!
Nice work, anyway. I like the version on the left more, simply because it looks like it could almost stand on its own as an ad poster, but the one on the right seems more like a magazine spot illustration.
I'll be watching for more like it. |

Sorry, Phil. I wasn't trying to "out" you. I check the "author's home page" button and it showed your website address. No big detective work there bro.
Anyway, sorry I didn't leave any comments about your illo. It's just I don't really know how to go about critiquing something like this. I know how to approach your other work because it's a more realistic style of illustration, something I know a little bit about. I look at stuff like this and I think of it as design work. If I knew more about this particular style, I'd be more inclined to post a critique. Know what I mean?
If I was to offer a general opinion on it.....
I'd say, it's nice. I like the color scheme. Other than that, don't really know what to tell ya. 'cept.... Keep it up?
Take it easy,

No problem Malachi
The final critique on this style is going to be whether or not publishers buy it or not, eh!
Here's another one I'm working on... called, "It's your fault!"

I really like it.
I think that some line weight variation could help out with the overall feel to the style. |

I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but the skewed necks make the illo look unsettling. Which may or may not be what your going for. That's the only thing I noticed. Nice shadow. Was that done in painter? |

JFreak... Not Painter... Used Photoshop 7...
Well, the pic is supposed to be about an unsettling situation between two people... so the exagerations are there for that purpose. They seem to work for me, but then I'm not buying them... Here's hoping the style works for others... |
