Oh yeah, let the fun continue.
Mine:
Conan O' Brien- When they used to do the staring contest between Conan and Andy. Damn, they were hardcore with the extreme jokes.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer- When Spike said to Angel, "You mean people still buy that Anne Rice crap?"
When Angel was saying how the vampire-wannabe goths have no idea what real vampires are like, or how they dress, and one of them walks right past him wearing the exact same outfit he has on.
X-Files- When Scully calls Mulder by his first name, and he tells her to forget about it--even his own family calls him Mulder.
My So Called Life: The little moments when the directors used camera shots that you would only see in feature films. Like the way the characters would brush shoulders in the hallway, and their eyes would meet, or the way Angela would smile secretly to herself when no one is looking, or the wide shots of Angela standing in the street with Brian, and you see only the white outline of their figures under the streetlight. Wow. I loved that show.
E.R.- The first time I watched it, and saw the trademark uncut shot following from the ambulance, to the hallway, into trauma, following one of the characters out into the hallway, then focuses on another character further in the distance, then follow that character around. All in one uncut shot. Eat your heart out, Orson Welles.
Dawson's Creek- The first season was magical, then it's all downhill. The first episode did such a great job establishing the relationship between Dawson and Joey. Especially when he called her "Josephine," and she pounced on him.
The Breakfast Club spoof episode. Hahaha. I knew Kevin Williamson had to be a John Hughes fan.

From Chef!: "That's not a man! That's a smirk on legs!"
From Black Adder Goes Forth: The ending. Particularly the part when Blackadder says something to the effect of: "And to think I tried to get out of here by pretending to be mad. Who would notice another madman around here?"
M.A.S.H.: The whole series...I just like it....
Joking Apart: The very end of the last episode, where the weatherman comes on, and you think it's the real weatherman, but then he starts crying about the show..heh....
The Seinfeld Effect: Well, it isn't really a TV moment per se, but it feels just like one when it happens. You're in a conversation, business as usual, when suddenly you realize you're talking about nothing. And there you have it--a Seinfeld Effect in progress. |

I've listed these ones already in the film thread...
Miami Vice - great show...Michael Mann again, At the end of the Jai Alai episode where the brother of the dead player goes to shoot the woman and Crockett yells 'Franky!' and the video freezes on Crockett running with the echoing gunshot carrying on.
Magnum, p.i. - at the end of a two parter when Magnum asks the Russian guy if he saw the sun rise that morning, the Russian answers yes, Magnum thinks for a moment and then turns around and shoots him...freezing the video on Magnum's gunfire.
The X-Files - Mulder finds his sister's spirit while Moby's music plays - but I'm a big X-File fan so there's certainly a lot more. The end of Jose Chung's from Outer Space Episode when the couple is walking away and we hear the X-Files them very faintly. Nice.
Nash Bridges - when the two ex-partners from previous shows, Tommy Chong and Philip Michael Thomas appear together with Cheech Marin and Don Johnson and when we see Crockett and Tubbs reunitied so to speak, and we hear those first few drum beats from the Vice them. Sweet.
--
and these:
The X-Files...Scully and Mulder dancing to Walking in Memphis by Cher at the end of The Great Mutato Episode. That scene captures the essence of their relationship. Also 'Jose Chung's From Outer Space' when the Alien/Military guy is shouting 'This is not happening...this is not happening...' and 'Jose Chung's Millenium' where Mulder and Frank Black have to fight those zombies...that was cool!
Millennium - The episode where the devils are sitting around the coffee shop talking about their experiences and meeting Frank Black - they way they all recollect Frank's demeanor is hilarious!
Anytime the Edmonton Oilers won the Stanley Cup...and also the Detroit Red Wings.
Simpsons - So many moments again, one of the best television shows ever thanks to the writers - Homer saying anything.
Seinfeld - The 'coincidental' episode...George and Jerry talking in the diner at the end '..and I reached into the whale and pulled out this!'...George holding the golf ball, that whole show was well written! The backwards episode was fun too.
And two nice Public Service Announcements -
1. The Canadian Heritage Foundation one of Joseph Tyrrell discovering the Dinosaurs in the Alberta Badlands, the look on his face captures the magnitude of the discovery he has just made.
2. Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or National Breast Cancer Foundation or something similar - a woman showering and her husband / partner comes into the shower with her and starts caressing here and the message is something about most lumps are found by the partner. A touching, moving way to get a message across. Very well done. Nice to see well-shot, moving segments on the tube. |

SNL - The one where this family chew food and pass it on to each others mouth. WOW, THAT IS EXTREME COMEDY!
Late Show with David Letterman - When Dan Rather cried, what a deep show that was.
Late Show with Conan O'brien - When Conan interviewed a guy named Buffalo
Tom Green - Not my favorite but i still wont forget, went Glend Humplick vomitted under the water. |

...I forgot one:
Are You Being Served?: "There's a whole cow, a whole sheep, and a hole in the wall with a frog looking through it."
...and some random thing I once saw while channel surfing...I have no idea what it's from or why it was said, but: "That's not a cute little lambkin--that's a tatty old sheep!" |

Iron Chef: A large fraction of Japanese chefs got pissed off at an Iron Chef, and decided to challenge him. They tried 3 times, and they lost all three. My favorite moment is at the end of the second battle, the head of the fraction announced "These chefs are useless! I'm taking him on myself!"
Isn't it great when you combine soap opera and cooking? |

Here's another:
Tokyo Love Story.
For those of you that are fortunate enough to know Japanese, or have seen this show subtitled, you know what I'm talking about. This is one of the best TV drama ever made in the history of Japanese television. Long live TLS!
My favorite moments:
When Rika tells Kanchi that if he doesn't hold on to her, she'll run away.
When Kanchi tells Rika that he knows magic and then kisses her.
When Kanchi sees Rika's name carved next to his at his old school.
And basically, every single scene with Rika in it. She's just too adorable! |

I've seen the whole thing twice. Kanchi is a jerk!
My favorite moment would have to be the time when Kanchi stood up Rika and spent time with another woman who brought over some soup to his house and tried to seduce him. I like all the sad parts.

One of my biggest regrets is that I came to the USA too late to see anything except the last season of Mystery Science Theater 3000. And to my continuing ire they just keep on re-running that last season, instead of going back further in time...
What a worthy concept, to laugh in derision at inept movie making, thus perchance helping to educate us in what's good and bad in movies, and punishing the wicked incompetents... and pulled off with such excellent cutting wit, sometimes reaching peaks of unendurable mirth.
A mafia guy is disguised as a monk, Mike's comment: "I guess that makes him a - felonius monk..."
A man pauses for no logical story-reason while walking through a hallway. The comment:
"Wonder if I should... nah, that'd be like the fifth time today."
And the man starts walking again.
And a thousand others even better which I can't remember now. If you don't know this show, please try it, you owe it to yourself, and to the art of movie making. |

This is copied directly from my website:
"Mystery Science Theater 3000 - If they ever sit in front of me in a theater, I'll probably decapitate all three of them. But on the TV screen, they are pretty damn funny. "
I'm also a huge fan of The Kids In the Hall.
Some of my favorite skits:
When the dog humps whatshisname! Hahahahaha!
When Bruce first appeared as the annoying kid. "There's this kid in my school...." Bwahahahahah!!!
Whenever they are in drag. Damn, does David Foley look good as a chick.
dr . bang- Dude! You've got a pretty disturbing idea of me. The only time I'm intrigued by two chicks together is when I'm sandwiched in the middle. |
