There is a difference between what I said and 'cuddly bunnies'. I SAID that if you are going to offer advice then offer it in a nice way! How hard could that be??? |

When I critique I try to be nice, pointing out what I like and also what needs to be worked on. I've noticed I've practically turned it into a formula, say a few things I like about it in the beginning, get into the technicals about what is wrong, and then point out one last thing or two I thought was good. But that just doesn't always work. Sometimes there isn't something good to say about it. Sometimes the person does need that harsh critique. HawkOne did say it wasn't a personal attack or anything, fair warning was given. If you look through the majority of the good critiques on this board, you'll notice that they usually aren't particularly mean or anything. Not as if they're trying to sully the artist's reputation. Ok I'm just repeating what has already been said, I'm off.
Jabberwocky - glad to keep you amused, I shall try my best at some other time m'lady. Hrmm, after rereading what I wrote up there I think I had watched just a bit too much Kenshin beforehand tee hee.

Okay the only thing I see that would be remotely mean would be
quote

making it look more like a flat drawing projected onto a plate of slimy pasta ... |
But like many artist giving examples to similar things is the best way to either describe or understand it.
It's not like he came out and said, "hey your works a piece of $hit!" now did he? NO! so I don't see what he said as being mean at all...
Osmodius - I still don't see the other thread that we are sooooooo mean to the other newbies on!
Gothic Gerbil - I'm getting you a cute cuddly bunny for chirstmas.... Hahaha! |

I consider myself a "newbie" and I lament that because of discussions like these, more experienced artists might abstain from giving useful comments in fear of starting another of these wretched threads. |

i'm just tired of people [newbies or not] giving critiques without being asked. the gallery/finished work section description mentions something about that. |

Nova - The guy who posted this saying that we were being "Hostility towards newb's" asked for Crits and got them then wasn't man enough to take them. |
