howdy, i remember a haiku related thread here a while ago, and i was sorta inspired to do something Haiku related for one of my short Uni projects, i ended up creating a wee desktop calender.
i used my own photography and tried to do some reasonably creative stuff with type, while still keeping it simple.
i didnt write the Haiku's (sp?) though, i found them all on the internet, some dont follow the traditional 5-7-5 line thingy either.
im not too sure of how well it looks as i dont do that much graphic design/type related stuff. would like to hear opinions...
check out the pages at.. www.brokenpixel.co.uk/haiku
cheers
[edit: oh and cus its design and photography i didn't know whether to put it in the finished works or not]

Wow. Those are amazing.
I have a few haikus hidden somewhere. I should go dig them up. They're really bad, though. |

If you really want to read it, here's one of my better half-assed ones. It sucks, but...
Darkness seeping in
It quickly engulfs us now
The light can't stop it.
Light is abolished
Kept out from the world of dark
It never creeps in.
Darkness is the death
We all have to face some day
It will stay for good.
That was written for a class assignment last year. We had to write a poem based on one of the "shadow emotions". I don't think it ever got handed in.
I dunno if you really wanted it, but I kinda felt like posting some "poetry". |

Beautiful Haiku's and artwork, I am very impressed with it. I like all of the design, they are very well done and eloquent. Great work! |

hehe, very inventive spam there mr hamster
thanks for the kind comments christian, anything to boost the deflated ego.
i like them Rat!, their meant to be read as a set right? - i like the last one the most, although i think the middle line could maybe be improved. nice work all the same
i wrote one haiku for the packing of my calender, seen on the back cover.
it was ...
Haiku on my mind
as the sandman beckons me
Dawn will soon approach
hehe kinda shit, written at 6 am, 3 hours before the project had to be handed in.

It's a single 3 verse poem. I liked it cuz it wasn't written in gr 5.
Shamhead - yours is pretty good. Better than most of mine. |

Hey, these are finished works! I like them. Some are stronger than others, but none are bad.
I have a couple of postersized poems and haiku here at home, but none so beautiful as yours. I know shops where they would fit right in. |
