As much as I hate to admit this, the Star Wars books (all 4 I've read) are a lot better than the movies (imo). I don't think there's much hope for the last couple movies coming either.
Then again, I'd rather be reading than watching a movie. |

It's a bloody trailer. It's completely fragmented, but you really can't judge the entire film based on the trailer alone.
Are you guys shure that Lucas is directing?
Oh, and by the way, you can't judge colors on a crappy quicktime or divx movie, not even on a regular tv.
Only in the theater will we see the picture as it is intended. Colorwise aswell.

The movie is going to feature lovable cartooney characters, amazing computer effects, popular and easy-to-listen-to music and even have a popular band make a cameo ! It will reflect values that are easy to relate to - and feature a lovestory that will break your heart. If you liked Titanic, you will love Episode 2.
With all these elements the movie is bound to be a success - stay tuned for episode #3, digitally remastered episodes #1-#3, episode #7, episode #8, episode #9, reruns of the digitally remastered episodes #4-#6, the official miniseries, the saturday cartoon series, the soundtrack, the toyline, the official clone pilot game, the jedi role-playing game, the board game, the official jedi mugs, bedsheets, window blinders, underwear, t-shirts, music videos and most of all, the making of episode #2, to get to share the vision of a modern fairy tale with the director George Lucas. |

Like I said.. after Episode I, I thought star wars was destroyed forever.. and I hated the Episode 2 trailer. But hey.. check this out: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=11796
Harry Knowles on Aint it Cool news have SEEN an early version of Episode II and he kinda restored my faith in Lucas a little. It has some minor spoilers but it's a must read! Harry is the only critic I trust.. and if he likes it.. well.. I know at least that it'll be better than episode I.
What are you waiting for?? Go read it already!! |

Or you could always do like this one guy did during the first part of The Phantom Menace and storm out the emergency exit shouting "Lucas can suck my #$@!".
Aside from that guy, the crowd that was there during the first show was awesome. Nobody talked during the movie exept to cheer at certain parts of the movie like everyone's favorite team just made a touchdown. It was really odd how the audience participation didn't annoy me for once. It actually helped the movie experience if anything. |

All I can say is, I had the same misgivings as all y'all who were talking about the trailer looking too 'effecty' from the quicktime version. The colors were all real bright and bleached out.. making the CGI look real phony. But I went to the theater today and I saw the trailer there.. whereas it still looks real effecty, the colors were a lot nicer and it wasn't so bleached out.. the effects fit in a lot nicer.
As for the acting, it still looks as sh*tty for both trailers... no amount of Brightness/Contrast will change that.
We shall see.

I am sorry, but the EP1 just completely sucked. The child actor was horrible. The plot could have adapted down to a 20 min episodew without any lose of story. The story was horribly predictable.
If it were not for the name "Star Wars" that movie would have been completely laughed at as being crap. Because this movie was just sooooo damn horrible I am really not thinking about seeing EP2 at all. |

its a pity lucas isnt more like Doctor Who. Once he gets too lame - he morphs into a completely new guy.
I liked the forth preview. I like how the repeated scenes from starwars. (eg the canteena and the queen/princess with the chain) and ripped off the scene from the fifth element (he didn't have to jump damnit). Nice battle scene renderings. The "almost storm troopers" were cool. And the walkers looked years in advance of anything from the first films. BUT - episode one was so bad....Lucas will have a hard time restoring my faith!
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD COULD HE STOP PUTTING KIDS IN HIS FILMS!

I finally saw the latest preview.
It's still a kiddie film, and the acting is still as bad as D&D the movie. And WHY does Yoda still look fake and with bad mouth movements? There are so many shots in that trailer that screamed GREEN SCREEN that I really believe the days of Lucas/ILM ruling the cinematic effects world is OVER.
There are other kickass effects studios that are doing better than ILM, IMHO.
Besides, "special effects does not a good film make." Eat that, Yoda--er, I mean, Lucas. |

i once sat beside george lucas in a cinema, it was the film hollowman, and me and my freinds followed him and sat beside him, i spilt minties on him, and spoke to him (uh, is this seat free?) and see the point is, the seat was free, he was all alone.
now, who among us, as a rich successfull "artist" would go see a shitty film like HOLLOWMAN all alone?? with no babes on your arms??
how can a man who doesnt like women, make a love story??
pauline kael said of george lucas "he's not a filmmaker, he's a TOYmaker"
in the seventies: steven, brian, francis and george would all hang out together, they'd make george wear an apron and cook them all dinner.
george cant direct. he doesnt know what "cinema" is. he doesnt have irvin kershner around to direct. he doesnt have lawrence kasdan to help write. |

I wonder how many long years will pass before someone is allowed to do a remake of the Star Wars films. |

I agree with Lunatique!
Everything looks artificial. Not that it looks too bad, but it's just not convincing i think. Even the actors act artificial.
I like the Clone trooper though |

Well, one thing we can't deny, is that even though we think the newer films suck, we 're still completely hooked. Why else would we spend time discussing the issue with people from around the world, hehe?
I like it, even though I don't like episode 1. It's still a classic topic that I talk about, even at parties and the likes.
My point? Star Wars still rules our world, even when it sucks!! And that is quite unique.
