You mean Howl's moving castle? Cool! I knew right away what that was.
Can't wait for the animation too. Which publisher was the cover for? |

Thanks for your opinions and comments guys.
I thought I could do digital and think in terms of traditional but for me I have been holding myself back with traditional, not allowed me to do the same kind of experimenting as I have been doing in the digital manner. On some parts I really don't know how to solve things with oil and such, to make small strokes, add and or retract colors behind a silhouette and to make it look good, well a lot of more things to mention that I need to work on and in traditional u have to redo if failing.
I am not sure why but this feels right now and scary at the same time but I will still be here in the speedy, I think gouache will be perfect for daily scribbles to post in here. ok thanks again guys and keep it up everyone.
Felt good to do this one, I sat down and thought about different methods and such and found the pallette knife to be the tool of the devil hehe.
gouache medium used.
here's one more scribble if anyone wants to look

see you |

matthew, I like your traditinal work better than your digital. You spend a similar amount of time with traditional, you will get somewhere. I know there is a lot more overhead to deal with, but that's the way it is.
Zhzhu, your doll paintings are a very nice, my favorite of your work.
keep on rollin', Ax
Anyone here into His Dark Materials? I will be working on that coming up. Any thoughts would be interesting to hear.
two sketches (posted one a bit ago) for a book cover for a cyberpunk noir set in Northern Africa. The horizontal one was chosen for development.

spooge, good work. i like the lighting in the second one. very realistic colors.
here's a 40 minute speedy. i was bored so i decided to give it a lil border.
i love thi sforum. why? becuase watchign u all has influenced me. it has taught me to be bold when i use colors and be bold when i draw shapes. just to be bold when i paint. before, i would zoom in and try NOT to be bold because i would fear the results. watching spooge-demon, zhuzhu, matthew, mitsui, ax--hv, p-rik, watmough, sparth, scumworks, beat, capt. fred, capt. flushgarden and all the rest that i did not mention. this is my 31st painting in the series of 100 that i began in order to improve. these 100 were begun the 2nd day i arrived at thi sforum i believe. and i can see change in my painting style... thanks everyone. |

R&D for a painting I'm doing (thumbnails).. Trying to find a good balance between evil and plain disgusting.. or something
Zhuzhu, love the dolls!
ax--hv and Matthew: Thanks!
Stephan, great work a few pages back! Little more care to the edge treatment and I could have mistaken the medieval town as a real location. _________________ www.TimoVihola.com
