insider: thanks Very Happy no, I am not going to art school. not yet! I will try to get into an artschool for Industrial design. But less than 10% of the applicant will be taken. Gonna be hard Very Happy Therefore I am working on my portfolio.
Since I have no lifedrwing course here I take the works of the old masters and study them.
So far everything I have leraned I have lerned through absorbing stuff of other artists. Can't await to finally do some lifedrawing in artschool!!

Michelangelo study

Rubens study

Another Michelangelo study ( I nearly gave up on this one. this guy is a genius. His shading technique is just,...absolutely amazing,...)

And this is without any ref as you can see...arghh...The old masters were so damn good - this quality seems to be unreachable.... Rolling Eyes

Looking good max, looking forward to see some from life if you get the chance.

notic: thanks alot! yeah I hope I will get the chance. Really loving your girls btw : )
Mitsui: Thank you very much! Your characters are superb! More!!
buzzz3d: thanks!
seth1: thank you! I am having a hard time working on different styles and techniques. The outline of a drawing is extremely important.
On the one hand it should look loose like in a sketch on the other it has to be very exact. That means you have to "sketch" a perfect clear outline.
That's what I am struggling with at the moment...

Some face skeches - most of them without reference.

So, i'm working on oil paintings; 2 of them Very Happy. first ones. h aha.

here's a sketch with oil pastels that i'll paint over.

it's pretty crap... but i guess i can redeem myself by saying its my first time working with pastels? Razz

skisptah70> Smile thanks.

3rd pastel painting. the second one, im overpainting with oils Very Happy.
this time, i read some material on oil pastels before doing anything.
it's blue because this was done from life, and the table-cloth was blue Smile

seth1: I like that skull!
notic: thanks. keep it up!
Reakshun: thanks alot!
annisahmad: thanks : ) you are on the right way. just keep practising!

my scanner is crap too, somtimes I could smash this thing to pieces...
It always gets way too dark and alot of detail gets lost also.
Same peoblem as you have with your scanner it seems. anyway...
Here are some new quick skeches I made today.

nice stuff everybody. we ain't many but we will keep this thread rolling : )

You guys make me draw. you all rock!

seth1, thanks for your crits.

I didn't pay attention to the right arm. Is that what you mean by forshorting is wrong?

I try to draw one piece a day.

forgive me for my bad drawings. But at least I tried. OK, time to post.
