I like that Photoshop is mainly a digital photography program. That keeps its engine well grounded at the fore front of the digital medium rather than at the fore front of trying to imitate old traditional media... ...but an easy canvas rotate function would be nice. |
i completly agree, the thing i dont like about painter is, that its trying to imitate something. ill stick with photoshop _________________

I cannot recall another product from Corel without painter (painter was based on small company procreations if I remember correctly).

Corel Painter was invented by Mark Zimmer, owner of Fractal Design in California, and developed by Fractal Design Corporation.
Fractal Design Painter 1 was released in 1991.
A few years later, Fractal Design merged with another company and became Metacreations.
Metacreations Painter 6 was released in 1999.
Metacreations then announced they were going to sell their graphics programs, including Bryce, Painter, and KPT F/X. By then, development of Painter 7 had already begun.
In Spring 2000, Corel purchased all Painter software (including Metacreations Painter Classic 1), along with some other Metacreations software, and continued development of Painter 7 with the help of three original Painter developers, Mark Zimmer, Tom Hedges, and John Derry.
procreate Painter 7 was released in 2001.
procreate was not a small company but a division of Corel that handled their graphics programs for a short time.
Corel's current software programs include:
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 (CorelDRAW X3, Corel PowerTRACE X3, Corel PHOTO-PAINT X3, Pixmantec RawShooter essentials, and Corel CAPTURE X3)
Corel DRAWings X3
Corel WordPerfect family of software (7 products)
Corel PaintShop Pro family of software (9 products)
Corel Painter family of software (3 products)
Corel WinZip
Corel Designer family of software (2 products)
Corel Visual Creation Studio and Corel Visual Creation Studio Pro
Corel KnockOut
Corel KPT Collection
Corel Grafico
Corel Ventura
Corel Mondello/NT
Corel iGrafx
Corel ActiveCGM |
