Been a long time since I posted anything. Here's a bunch of stuff done from last term's Entertainment Design stuff. I'm 8th term this Spring, but unfortunately likely won't graduate until next Fall because of Internships, final projects, etc. I'm trying to get more narrative into my work, a stretch for an Industrial Designer. Hope you like!

Assorted Paintings:

Original Draweing (from Arch 1 class)

Character 1: "Jouney into the West" The story of the Monkey King. A great Asian "superhero" story. I envisioned Monkey King to be this short stocky guy with a Napoleon complex.

More Character 1 work: Treasure Island redesign. Assignment was to re-imagine Treasure Island into a different era/locale. I chose post-Civil War.

Architecture 1 work: Designing original architecture based on historical reference.

Great stuff!! I really like the second and third one. Nice perspektive!
What's the actual goal in Entertainment Design?
I think these could also be great concepts for videogames : )

Wow, nice stuff. I dig the architecture pencils, especially the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired piece and the Chinese one.

Max-

As per the "Entertainment Design goal", Scott Robertson and Co. sat down a couple years back and put together the Entertainment curriculum at Art Center in order to train for just about any entertainment design job. A student still needs to figure out their own focus, but we are getting loads of ammunition. I'm kind of figuring out where I'm putting my focus this term. I'm really hoping I can get into film/animation, but games would be alot of fun (and offer ALOT more creative freedom).

Nice and diverse work. Especially your architecture moxie is very strong.

Only thing to crit for me is that the colored characters look a bit smudgy. Not all that bad really, but it'd improve their appeal if they were a bit more crisp imo.

Killer portfolio so far, that third one blows my mind especially. I'd love to have that hanging on my wall. Like Glitter said, though, there's something about the colored characters that needs some refining, the lighting isn't quite defining the forms well. It seems a bit scattered and unfocused in spots. The neo-classical architecture illustration is pretty incredible, and I'd love to see the Chinese temple rendered in full color with some haze and fog draped over it. Awesome work.

Thanks for the info Jimmy. I wasn't aware that ED actually covers every aspect of design (movies, games, etc). I'd love to study that kind of stuff too. I am busy with ID atm,...
