Alright, well...It seems that less than 50% of contestants sent me entries. I don't want people winning due to the absence of their opponent...So I think I have a solution that may or may not work.
Instead of having an official deadline, I will post the works when everyone has sent in their entries. I will post the list of the people that have already sent me their entries, and of those who have not. I assume this will prolong the round, but at least everyone can participate without a frustrating deadline.
So, to those of you who did not send anything, you have no excuse now >:]
Also, to those who sent me something, if you want to revise your works feel free.
A pat on the back to the 13 people who sent me their work (Nice!) :
Alyssa Milano
AndreeWallin
Androgs
Destinatus
Ead
Hideyoshi
Misc
Neff
Paoo
Robinchyo
Rolando
Synnical
Tarmuth
Those who owe me a jpeg:
On
annisahmad
Cicinimo
Duracel
eren
ExonGep
fruity_loops
Horseflesh
Jmascho
LadyLioness
Max
Notic
RasselTassel
Sampster
sweetums
w@sker
yuk.
I will update the lists when you send me your work.
If anyone disagrees about this system let me know, but it seems that deadlines aren't compatible with busy artists. |

i`m really not sure about that... if I don`t have any deadline then i`m never gonna give anything... i guess i`m pretty lazy and i`m afraid i`m not the only one hehe... and you gave already one more week... and i want to see the other people`s work now
nobody`s gonna get out this time and for the sake of all the ones who rushed to be on time why don`t we go on?
pleeeease |

whoa, under a 50% really isn't so much!
But waiting for all the entries to come in without setting any pressure on them might take forever.
At least set up a deadline after a week of waiting I say...

hmm, not sure about this strategy. I don't know about you guys but I would spend a pretty long time revising my piece. I'm not sure how long it would take me before I turn it in. Although I don't want to win this round just cuz the other doodz didn't turn something in. =\ *shrug* |

Yeah, true that!
I mean, a challenge is also about being able to cope with a deadline and coming up with an according result in that timeframe.
Med, I think you should just set a new deadline (really just a coupla days!) and if they can't make it by then...
...
they LOSE!

If we keep extending deadlines then what does it say about the initial deadline that was set? people will now respect it less since they assume there will be grace period after...
I say once there is a certain percentage of works turned in (say, 60%), there will be no extensions. |

I assumed that having a list of people that owe an entry would be pressure enough, but maybe not...
After thinking about my strategy, it really would take too long. I'm not very good at maintaining deadlines, I'm a sucker for seeing everyone's work lol.
SO
Who wants to volunteer as a deadline enforcer? You get a police badge with your name on it
It would be nice to have an extra hand(s) to organize this anyway :] |

a thought came to mind while browsing.... Since there is always some problems with deadlines and such why not instead turn this "challenge thread" into a weekly based theme thread instead.
Honestly i only check it out for the cool contributions on the same theme and not for the competition. At the same time anyone can post in the thread weekly and there wont be any fuss about deadlines because there wont be any.
What do you guys think... |

I think the idea is good SR, but in reality I believe it wouldn't be a very crowded thread in the end. A competition makes for some thrilling expectations, where in a themed thread you wouldn't know if you will be part of a page containing awesome images, or end up being the only contributor that week.
I would be willing to give it a shot though. _________________ homepage:blog |

daryl: yes thats true, but then again this is sijun, lots of talent browsing these threads , even one contribution can inspire other artists to partake.
I would definitely take part in it too! |

I did like Draw Club, I even participated back then. |

Hi all, back again.
Take your "Themed Draw Club" idea, and go start another thread. Please stop cluttering up THIS thread with ideas for other competitions.
So, C'MON youse guys! What the hell happened here? No activity, and a bunch of rabble-rousers trying to take this thing over and turn it into another "Weekly Group Activity" thing...TSK!
But, while we're on the topic of "themes," I think "Doomsday" sucks as a theme, because it is too close ended. Whatever you draw, it's gonna have to have something to do with death and destruction on some level...Yuk.
I've tossed out at least 4-5 ideas. A couple after I started rendering. Doomsday is depressing. Period. Regardless your aggressiveness, "doom" is "doom."
So, we are a TEAM of 30 contestants, here (you wanna-be's go start your own thread, please!), lets communicate. I LIKE this COMPETITION. Even though, as you've all seen, I suck at it...lol!
It's NOT the idea of a weekly thing, it's NOT the idea of a "fight club," it's the idea of an elimination done in a friendly way. I don't participate in weekly anythings. THIS idea was something different.
PLEASE!!! Don't let this dissolve into some half-assed, never completed thing with 3 sad competitors at the end (one of them me), and everyone else burnt out and bored.
TODAY is TUESDAY, SEPT. 9.
ANYONE who has submitted an entry moves to the WINNER'S Elimination List AUTOMATICALLY. That's the reward for putting in an effort. Even if you lost the first round.
ALL THE REST OF US HAVE UNTIL SATURDAY, SEPT 13, NOON GMT
No more excuses, no more whining.
Draw "Doomsday" as YOU losing this round, with GOOD art flying around your head, but blank canvas.
Draw "Doomsday," as McCain winning the election in the USA
Draw "Doomsday," as your favorite nightclub turning into a Day-Care center.
Draw "Doomsday," as Starbuck's going out of business.
THINK, dammit!
DRAW, DAMMIT!
Seriously. If you guys don't get off your asses and submit, I'll actually stand a chance to WIN this thing with MY crappy art!!!
And DON'T doubt for one moment that I will lord it over all of you who I beat, if I do! Think of a giant, bloated ego, floating over your head...That will be me, reminding you how I won 3rd place, because you guys wussed out...It's not a pretty thought, but only YOU can change that future...Kinda like Terminator, with a Wacom...
So, let's get it in gear, people! You gots 4, FOUR days to finish!
You will have 3, THREE days to then vote.
Med will post the results by 1, ONE week from today.
NO EXCUSES. No more extentions.
Draw or Die!

SR - I like that idea a lot, I'd definitely join in if there's another thread for it.
Sweetums - Thanks for joining in on organizing
I agree with all except for everyone who submitted goes to the winners bracket, that would mess up the charts quite drastically. We still need a round of voting, and so far the entries are looking awesome as hell, mad props guys.
So, keep up the good work and send me your jpegs |

I still want those who DID meet the deadline to get a "bonus bump."
For those entries that DID meet the deadline, how about giving them an "extra" 3 votes (3 being 10% of our team of 30...), regardless where they are in the charts. That will give them a bit of a reward, yet still keep them in the competitions where they currently are within the brackets...
As for the excuse of having a life, and not being able to meet deadlines, ect. Kwitchurbeliakin.
Life has Deadlines, get used to it. Your bills have deadlines to be paid, your job has deadlines to issue you a paycheck. Your milk has a deadline when it needs to be drank by...So don't be whining that you can't meet the deadlines for this.
If you can't meet a deadline, then don't sign up for things like this. How do you same people manage to participate in weekly events for creatures, environments, weekly themes, etc., if you can't meet THIS challenge, which usually allows for about 10 days or so...? Excuses only satisfy those who make them. If you meet the deadline, kewlness. If you don't, epic FAIL, and you move to the bottom of the rankings. That's kewl, too, because it just means I have moved up one more ranking to world Sijun Forum Domination...Works for me!
So MED, how many entries are you missing besides mine? _________________ Life is short. Expect nothing, enjoy everything.
