ut2k3 final version will look better. They had to reduce details to keep that demo under 100mb. High quality textures had to go. Now you can only select normal.. nothing better. Not 100% sure about what you can select.. but I'm 100% sure that they removed better textures. So maybe there will be high and very high in the future |

flying around at 70 mph, an opponent on trailing each hook dragging through the dirt, taking a turn WHAM! one smacks into the wall and richochets back into spinning fury...the other ones underpants come off.
o_O
Rocket Jockey Lan play was the best...cause then you're beating up people you know. =)
Another game I adored for a long time was THE NEVERHOOD! |

Had ta scare up a UT2K3 demo freebase and what I've gotta say is : damn, that grafX engine is indeed "IMPRESSIVE"!!1 But I dun dig the weaponZ. Luna's rite, that bio fucking hazard rifle has to go. The flak cannon makes it for n00bz ta easy ta score. And when the threesome-rocket launcher cums into play the whole massacre turns into a big n00bish frag fest where every foo' may get a super1337 ranking for spamming the weapon respawn points. UT2k3 kicks among titles like Q3 and UT royal ass, but 1337 skill0rz like me will stick to mo realistic weaponz & game play. I'd luv to see CS with dat engine tho. |

i was looking through the gamefiles and found some texture files as large as 2048x2048 wieghing in at 16mb (.bmp)...i think it was a moon or something.
the polycount on the models still seems a bit low, and the levels although detailed...kind of look like shit.
even with the massive textures enabled, i doubt it will look much different from the demo.
i noticed while playing that the lighting at times does look fantastic, but most of the time its above average. most of the cool effects are being done with various sprites and shaders, that seem to bleed through walls and fuck up the whole situation.
plus the sound is fucking horrible, they should fire whoever did it...god damn, his wife and kids should fire him too.
ut2003 is a nice looking game, but its nothing special.
counter-strike is not realistic gameplay. counter-strike needs to die, so we can remember it still being good. |

might as well add my 2 cents...
...eh... thats pretty much it
the only really COOL thing about UT2k3 is that rag doll physics for the corpses... it was FRIGGIN AWESOME to see my body fall down dumble, slide down the slope, and all of it with really cool body movement, like an arm bending behind my back and stuff... other than that.... ...eh... |

The ragdoll physics is so great. It made me laugh soo hard the first time I saw my body fall through the little mesh thing in the Bomber Run mode. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, so I tried jumping into the big floating net, only to not be able to jump through it, and fall into the big abysmal hole.... and boy, was it cool.
I think more games should have falling people...... with objects obstructing their way when falling, so we can just watch falling people..... and eat lots of carrotts.... |

Hrmm. I'm not a big gamer by any means, but I can't stop playing this game.
To me, that means it's good. |

And what gets me?
People who think Duke Nukem was a first person shooter origionaly! Come on!
Duke Nukem was butchered by being made into an FPS. |

Im not actually impressed by UT2003's graphics. It looks exactly like UT with more poly higher rez textures.
Hopefully this game picks up a little though, Unreal series of games HAS always been much easier to mod than ID's games.
Looking forward to Doom3. |

Doom3 is all good. Technology wise
I doubt that it'll be fun to play for the actual gameplay factor of it.
Besides i dont like horror things, and that's what they're trying to do :0 |

Yea, I'm with Shizo, I hate scary stuff too. I don't even like horror movies. It isn't that I'm genuinely scared of them, but to me, "fear" is a negative feeling and I just can't see the point in paying to feel negative (whether it be a movie, a video game, whatever).
And again like Shizo, I think D3 will kick ass in terms of it's technology, but I'm not sold on it's gameplay yet. It's also really far away. |

I think Id feel better about the technology if the zombie in the front wasnt exactly the same as the zombie behind to the left.
nah.. just kidding.. D3 looks pretty amazing. |

yep more polys, but I want to see stuff similar to global alumination and when they can do that, thats when the graphics will imrpove.
you can make a photorealistic cube, out of six polys, all I see is an increased poly count in UT2K3 |

What gives? This isn't fucking Silent Hill!! This DOOM! |

game junk:
UT2K3 - I've only played the demo, but I mean to pick up the retail, maybe when it drops $10. Bombing run (AKA football) and CTF are fun. It runs extremely well too, I get nice low ping on my cable and blazing framerates
Battlefield 1942 - I could see the potential in this one, but I am one of those who was hit by the plague of evil bugs that some people didn't seem to have. It's nigh unplayable with the bugs, mega lag and such. Seems like a good time though when it's working, but it's really buy at your own risk because there's no telling if it'll work for you or will chug like a piece of shit for no good reason no matter how high end your system is
Doom 3 - Playing the tenebrae quake mod has me excited about this. play the mod if you have at least a geforce 3, youll finally see your pixel shaders getting a workout. Now I can't live without real-time lighting/shadows, UT2K3 went from looking like the best thing I'd seen to hollow. And lighting will help a lot with gameplay, trust me characters that have to put up with real lighting from multiple sources are much easier to spot. Doom 3 itself though... hmmm I've almost seen some more inspiring stuff already in tenebrae. d3 looks like from the screenshots released either a rather blah design, or a horror game, which would be even worse, I'm interested but they really got to show me something more then a flat shooter or survival horror as it's been done to death, because the technology trump has already been difused by tenebrae
GTA3 - yeah it's old, yeah it's good. yeah it's hardly optimized for PC's and I imagine it really chokes some systems. I'm having fun with it lately. The upcoming Vice City looks like more of exactly the same though, I hope it's better because you spend a lot of time in GTA3 imagining how much further could be pushed, and it looks like they are just shoving out a sequel with a different city |

I haven't tried many of the late games, they just don't appeal me.
About D3, I look forward to it. I think id may get to do a great horror game.
It's the same story, you get to play what you played in DooM I & II, so I think they just want some more story and planning. Changing sides (to me sounds a bit like the old Half Life trend). |

Just finished Icewind Dale II. Even with the old graphics, it was still entertaining enough. Baldur's Gate II was also fairly interesting.
Slickest game I've played must've been Hero's Quest a.k.a. Quest for Glory I - played it on a 286 with a Monochrome video card and 640k RAM - I bet that game would fly on my pc now. Could probably run the whole game straight off my memory.
Doom 3 looks really slick, but damn, what do you need for that - a Quad Xeon? It looks really resource intense. Anyone got the requirements for that game? |

Projected system requirements for Doom 3 are as follows:
900mhz processor
256meg RAM
GeForce 3 TI 200/Radeon 8500 or other programmable pixel-shader enhanced graphics card of similar power
Please note that these are not the official requirements, only averages based on speculation by around 30 different sources. They are also the minimum requirements.
Any current gaming PC with up-to-date equipment will be able to run it. |

You would need a 128meg card as well right? I've heard 72megs of textures, something like that... |
