Can you not do them? i got painter classic with my wacom pen and pad. is it becouse its the classic version and not the newest one? i have photoshop as well, but i like using painter a little more.

As far as I know, Painter Classic is a renewed version of the old Fractal Design Program "Dabbler" which is probably a more apt description of the capabilities of the program. It has great drawing/painting tools, but not so great editing tools. Painter 6 (the full version) has layers. Earlier versions of Painter have floaters, which aren't as intuitive as layers, but work fairly much the same.
