We could also have a "mouse section". Definately an organized "link section" where we should have links to all kinds of artist, tutorials, maybe anatomy, and other wonderful art sites. A " 'Dumb Question's not to ask' Section" and answer them there
That's all I can think of right now I'll think of some more later |

I've sort of been contemplating bringing that up for a while... Anyways, it's great idea and I commend Danny for coming up with it. Also, being a rather annoying and long-winded poster (hmmm... the other kind of poster), I know how people can get pissed off at you really easily, unless you're one of the really talented artists (Loki, Dhabih, etc.)... but the forum has changed and people bite each others heads off all the time nowadays... mostly due to newbie naivety (if that's a word)... so anyways, a FAQ should be built... a good one... that tells you a lot about photoshop (some info on layers, drop shadows, blurs, dodge/burn, what type of settings), some info on equipment (palettes, scanners, monitors, video cards)... well, hell, you guys don't need me to list this stuff... I'm starting to sound like my dad and lecture you on what you know WAY better than me... anyways, GREAT IDEA... maybe if we could get the newbies to ACTUALLY read it, though, because lots of people ignore FAQ's for some reason...

The only way I can think of to make people that would normally skip a FAQ read it is to just have everyone say 'Read the FAQ.' over and over to any question they ask that's already in it, until they (hopefully) get the picture.
DAMNIT!

fuck it dude .. i mean ... this place isn't just for the experienced ... it is for the new people .. i've been reading these threads and checking them out for some time .. posted a few images here and there ... but i'm a stage artist ... i have drawn my whole life ... but like, i'll go in phases ... (unless its a job or something, then i have no problems) ... but usually, i only do the art work when i have the free time, and i generally do work that i never finish .. but i'm just now starting to post here, (don't know why i didn't much before..) .. argh , i'm rambling .. i'm going to bed...

flamings bad. someone gets hurt. Has this topic gone to far or what? Only one serious answer as far as I can see.
Perhaps u should buy a book about PS or visit http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/main.html or search the net. This obviously isnt the place for newbies looking for PS beginners tutorials.... I guess. People here are helpful though, once youve made a pic or something. |

There's nothing wrong with inexperienced; But there's definately something wrong (in my eyes) with inexperienced AND poor linguistic skills. Maybe we should have a rule that on this board if you don't actually have some semblance of readable text either in your post or the topic... We'll have Shizo nuke them. Good old russians...stockpiling their nuclear weaponry =D

I don't think there's anything wrong with being inexperienced, either. If you get flamed when you first start posting here, it's not just because you're a newbie. What bugs me is when newbies just arrive on the scene and start posting hundreds of pointless threads and asking stupid questions that have been answered many times before. This forum is (was, anyway... ) a fine community, and the last thing it needs is people who don't know the rules to come and destroy the place. That's all. So if it seems like people are harder on the newbies... it's just that they need to learn the rules before this place goes down the drain. |
