Considering buying a Intuos 9x12 as an upgrade to the ArtIIz...
Should I go bigger/smaller or should I consider the graphire?
I've done the research (i.e. searching on the forum) but I just can't seem to agree to one tablet, so I need more opinions...sorry if this is another stupid post

Oops, just realised you said you had done a search. I was mumbling something about Jean Jean's thread being an informative one.
I'll leave this one to the other forum members. Me personally, I like my graphire, it does the job (with certain things), but I do dream sometimes about what a 9x12 would be like.

If you go with the 9x12 you will be quite tired in the arm and it takes up a quite big space. I almost regreat taking the 9x12. I only use 5x8 size. To much arm movement.
It depends. And remember its not like drawing on paper. U use the corners too.

I use a 6x8 Intuos, which I think is A5 size.
I've never used any different sizes. One thing to remember though. Bigger isn't always better. There are issues of practicality to consider, like desk space etc. Your drawing style has a lot to do with tablet preferance too, ie if your draw with broad bold strokes, go for a large tablet.
The opposite applies for small tablets!
Hope that helps. Cheers!

Yes, I have an A5 Intuos too, and I find that it's perfectly good for me. Having a larger tablet would require broader and surer strokes... given that I'm a beginner at drawing, making long smooth well-directed strokes can be a problem... a smaller tablet helps with this. And it's not like it's decreasing your resolution or something, since you can always zoom into a particular area of a painting when you need to do detail work...
