Here ya go guys, blast away. Be as brutally honest as you wanna be (but keep in mind it's not shaded or anything and it's in its fairly early stages )

Great picture. Anatomy looks all correct, and that look in her eye's is eerie.

Looks incredibly similar to the Borg Queen from ST: First Contact. But I guess it'll be difficult for anything that's remotely biomechanic to NOT look Borg. Well, either that or Giger-esque.

Shade it, color it, and add a background and you'll have a hella swank pic. Great job man.

Just a little update

I think I added a little TOO much detail to the mechanical thing in the upper right, but that's easily fixable later on. I've also been told that her shoulders are a little too slender, especially her left one, but I' can't see it. Are you guys seeing that?

ok here comes the brutal critique (muahahahaha!!):

The eyes look like slits they should be curved rather than made up of lines.

Her jawbone is maybe too strong

the side of her head should be flat

the neck senew would be vivible if she moves her head like that

the shoulder muscles are curved separately and do not flow into the musles behind the collarbone in one line

she has only 3 fingers (on purpouse?)

the back of the head dips in a bit before it flows into the neck muscles

I think thats all i could suck out of my nails on this one.. its quite good so far.

Thanks Nex, you seem to know a hella lot about anatomy so I'll definitely take all you said into consideration. She has three fingers on purpose, more will become clear as to the purpose of that as I work on it. Hennifer, she doesn't have ears on purpose but I'm considering changing that, it looks kinda odd. psi burn, she actually will be in a crogenic pod type thing. If you look closely there are some vertical lines to either side of her. Sucks having to explain all this, it needs a lot of work. Thanks for all your comments.

actually I don't know that much.. but I try to learn it.

Fred Flick Stone is the "certified" anatomy specialist on this forum, he could help you a lot more to undrstand this stuff, I can only try to tell you what seems odd but not how to make it look real or right.

Hope you will post your stuff when you finish/continue it.

Cya

yeah, if you want to keep her without ears, you should give a visual clue to the viewer as to why the ears aren't there. like a scar, or a piece of machinery covering where the ear would be. otherwise it looks like you forgot them.

it can, but you have to give the viewer a hint that you didn't just *forget* the ears. for example, putting a bump, or a tiny hole, or a discoloration, or some kind of texture where the ears should be. or making the whole body very streamlined, so that the lack of ears isn't surprising. know what i'm saying?

if i was going to design a character that wasn't human, first i'd think of the environment that character lives in and then i'd try to figure out what changes that environment would have on the body. for example, an underwater humanoid probably wouldn't have ears.
