I don't follow Random Musings so I'm just sifting through it here, and I find a monster of a topic with 210 or so replies. Was its sheer size the reason it was closed or was it the content?

I'm really sorry it was closed, but that's not what it became about, infact it developed into some damn good discussion which was ruined by a few. names will not be named, read for youself, it's only 6 pages

Yeah, I still kinda miss it. Was an interesting read, at least the first 4 pages.....
It always sucks how a single person or two can ruin a perfectly good discussion.

I read the first page and the last page, and I started this topic because I couldn't find a legitimate reason (even with the not nice remarks which would be expected with this topic) for it being closed other than its size. To me, there was nothing offensive or over the top in the last page (which is where I expected it would be if there was any) so I am still not clear as to why it was closed?

This is random musings . . . and that topic was a random musing that I'm sure I and most guys and girls think about most days.

Well the offensive posts were on page 4 or 5 IIRC and have already been edited out by Dhabih....so there's not much to see there now. I don't know whether it was necessary to close it....but who cares. If anyone feels the need to discuss the original subject any further, we can still open a new thread, as you just did.
Oh yeah and 6 pages is not too much for a thread IMHO.... I've been on an UBB where a topic had 25 pages.....

. . . hmm, well I probably didn't read where it got bad then. Like I said, I read the first and the last pages. Usually a thread is closed when it gets bad, so I would think it safe to assume it would be closed when it had reached its worst.

It seemed to be an interesting topic. One thing that I was going to mention was my agreement with whoever said something about girls between 18 and 23 (or something like that) basically not having their heads screwed on tightly until they're in their mid-twenties. Many girls think its just guys who are hormone driven baffoons until their mid twenties or even always!

Also, the depth with which many girls look for qualities in guys is hilarious. Some actually look for more specific, mature things and would completely bypass looks, which seems to give girls in general some illusion that they are far more mature than guys. Speaking generally from my experience, most girls in their teens and usually early twenties have to 'great deapth' to their character than most guys the same age who aren't huge sports fans and pride themselves on their tolerance for alcohol, namely beer ie. us college kids

. But, I've met a lot of guys who are part of a group who outshine most girls their age in terms of maturity.

There were about 20 other points i wanted to comment on from that thread, but it's been a few hours since I read it and I'm too lazy right now to read more because I know that would/will make for a very long post.

I closed it cause it started turning into just insults. I figured if people would like to discuss the topic again they can start a new thread and the bad blood wouldnt spill over from the old one hopefully.

I think the topic is probably worn out . . . but next time it comes up, I hope that we might be able to put our new moderators to practice and have the troublemakers "silenced." B) Any news on who the mods will be?

Or maybe I do... I don't know - it upset me at first because I was very insulted, but couldn't respond to it... but thinking about it, I realise it might be just as well...

Though anyone considering things like "lets just be friends is weaker than the aborted offspring of enayla (with her feminist attitude)" a random musing really needs to think again.

As FaithInChaos would probably concur, what happened on the thread was entropy. Accelerated by the fact that girl-guy relations and our concept of them is very "energized". Just helps get us to "chaos" sooner, as well as a lot of non-random musings which you have to expect. You cant have evidence of your side be a musing. Or your opinion a musing.

I think its safe to have the topic start as a random musing and become something more involved and more tangible . . . that's actually what I would hope to get from most random musings I present.
