Hey everybody, just thought I'd see if I could get some sorta response on something I've been fooling with for the past couple hours. I was bored so I decided to see if I was any good at coloring comics so I found these inks that Chapel was using from Mad's site and had a go at it.
The Batman that's starting the flip isn't done yet but everything else is pretty much there. I think I desaturated the surroundings a bit too much but I can fix that later. I didn't go for a Liquid! look or any other look I can think of...just did this up the way I normally like to paint stuff to see what it'd look like on some comic linework. I painted Batman with slightly different colors and fairly dark, losing a lot of the line work especially in the cape area so I don't know how that'll go over.
So if anybody cares to comment, particularly those that do this fairly regularly, I'd like to hear what you think and what you'd different. Enjoy.

Flinthawk-
I'm no expert, since I hardly do this on a regular basis. However I would just like to share a couple of thoughts with you.
The cape looks good - I like the color, and it "flows" well, if that makes any sense. The background looks to light and washed out, but it seems your on top of that allready. It seems you are indeed pretty good at coloring comics. |

Flint, I really like the colours: the cape looks very good to me, the body color remembers the original batman, and the washed out background looks like a big city, like Gotham would look in my opinion. Post the finished version soon |

Hey very nice coloring, although i think the background (the city) could use a little touching up. it doesnt look dark enough....errrrr gothic enough. heh Gotham is supposed to be all dark and gothic sorta. well anywayz those are my thoughts.

Thanks people, at least it seems my color choices aren't turning anybody off. My thinking behind it was to take the original colors and make them darker instead of taking them all the way down to the grey and black of the new one. I rather like they way they handled the cape in the first animated shows where the cape was black except for the blue highlights letting you know that the cape isn't black but a very, very deep midnight blue.
The city isn't quite what it should be..I kinda rushed it so I could post this and at least get some comments on Bats before falling asleep so I'll probably go in and add the color and lighting that I originally envisioned when looking at Mad's pencils.
In any case, I'll finish up this panel and probably the rest of the page in my freetime and post it to see what people think. If anybody else has something to say feel free to do so
