I bought my wacom like 2 years ago And ever since the begining of this year EVERY time i use my wacom it would randomly rebot my computer. For example: I would be working on a painting and all of a sudden my cursor freezes and then the screen turns black and the computer reboots.. I know this is the wacom because IT only reboots when im using the tablet. Has any one had this problem? or anyone know how i can fix this??? I know that its not the tablet it self because i lent it to my roomate and he had no probs with it.... I tried d/l the new wacom drive and installing it and it didnt fix anything... I also wrote an email to wacom and they DONT BELEUVE ME and they keep on telling me to get the new driver and soo on.. BLAH.. its really pissing me offf you know.. I cant complete any pictures and its at the point where i cant even use my wacom because its very frustating having the computer rebooted when you are half done and you forgot to save... PLS RESPOND thanx |

What the hell? I don't believe..
I wouldn't survive with such kind of 'problem' for a day, and you have it for like a year? hehe
Anyway, format is the best cure. |

Yow.
Well, you're not gonna like this solution, but it'll work...
Format time...!
You probably know the drill, backup the hell out of everything, get it onto portable media, wipe the drive, and rebuild. It sucks, but it's the only way to be sure...
You're getting pretty lousy CS from Wacom, and unless you can get your machine in front of someone who can help you correct this ASAP, you're going to have to suffer for a day or two.
Hope you have all of the programs and such to reinstall, too.
Good luck. |

I had this problem a long time ago so I'm not sure if I clearly remember how I fixed it but here we go. First make sure that you have hardware alpha turned off. Second make sure your video card drivers are up to date. Also try changing your swap file size. I think it was one of those/combination of one of those things that fixed it. I also remember experimenting with it and it seemed like it was a combination of a certain pressure level and area that I was painting in that would cause this reboot. Of course if none of these work then I guess a format and reinstall is your best option, sorry. |

well formating wont help.. i have formated and started my computer more than a few times to actually TRY to get this thing working but no luck... It still does the same thing after formating...
But if it helps i have noticed that it seems to freeze and reboot MORE when i have a painting program like photoshop or painter and the internet running at the same time...
Yeah pretty crazy i have let it go for this long HAHA but i dont really get around to using my wacom OFTEN but for the times that i do use it i would really like it to work properly... blah.. .
Oh and Gothic gerbil what is hardware alpha and the swap file you are talking about?? |

You'll find the hardware alpha setting in photoshop under transparency & gamut but if it is happening under other programs too then it isn't that. Your swap file settings you'll find in control panel->system->advanced->something_or_other just look around in there and you'll find it. It may also be that you have some bad memory. If possible try swapping your ram around/out and see if it affects anything. |

Did you try taking out other cards of your computer like modem or sound card? |

Originally i thought it was either a wacom driver problem , a usb driver problem or THE TABLET IT SELF WAS FAulty..
I know that its not a wacom driver prob Since i tried installing like 5 different ones... Its not usb.. i updated the drivers. And its not the wacom tablet it self since it works on every oterh computer i tested it on BUT Mine ...
I am really puzzled here .... |

Come back with results.
(unplug Ethernet if you have it too).
PS: almost forgot, you updated latest official BIOS for your mobo too, eh foo?

what kind of mother board do you have? if its something generic, it could be conflicting with your tablet. i think there was an asus(i think) board or two that had a problem similar to this. |

Hehe!
What do you mean your motherboard isnt Asus, i think Asus it is! I joke.
Find out what it is (look at it) or look at your POST screen on boot. Asus came up with utility for windoze to flash their BIOS, but maybe other brands have those utils too now. And if they dont, you know how to boot in DOS? Then it's easy too. |

What are the hardware specification of your computer? processor type, speed, etc. maybe your computer is overheating due to the strenuous amount of processing it is doing (often typical with digital art) and your computer is rebooting because of it. try keeping it unbarably cold in your room and take the side panels off your case to allow more fresh, cold air to carry off the heat. |
