I just got a new monitor, and everything is extremely washed out. The brightness/contrast buttons on the monitor do little to help.

It's a Gateway2000 CrystalScan monitor(I didn't know the exact serial number) but
it's used and it has no software with it.I went to Control Panel(I have windows ME) and tried to use the Add New hardware feature to finetune it, but it did nothing.

I don't know what else to try.

hello there!

First, how old is this monitor? Aging could be one of the causes.

Also, depend on your video card, but most one let you change the brightest, try that if it helps.

Lastly, check on your monitor to see if you can its RGB value. If you see it, try to increase all RGB value to a higher number.

Hope that helps!

I don't know how old the monitor is, but it couldn't be too old because it says gateway2000 on the front. so, two or three years I assume.

I tried the RGB suggestion, and it helped a little. I am using this one after having a very dark monitor, so maybe that's why I think everything is too light. But it still seems too pale to me.

Hey, if its a Sony, i heard you can rejuvenate its color and brightness by turning so kind of knob inside the monitor.

[b]BUT NO ONE SHOULD DO THIS, IT CAN AND WILL KILL YOU, IT WILL[/]
Send it to a monitor shop, let them see if they can make rejuvenate it again. My monitor is made in 1998, its a Sony and its color is still damn bright after all these years.
