Hey gang. First ART post to the forum. Lookin for some constructive crits for mah pathetic art skills. This sketch is just a hand, but somewhat dbz style. I realize ahm not very good so of all things to point out i could work on that would not be it . I've only really gotten into drawing the last month or so.

aww.. hepling out because i feel your pain, (my site is hosted on nbci but i store my posting images on virtualave..)
Image.. nice work overall, but that thumb looks a little tweaked out. I think i's because there should be a slightly concave line from the 'knuckle' joint of the thumb to the beginning of the wrist bones, rather than an indent.
I like the linework on the hand more than the flame-y thing around it, fire just doesn't do that funky line thing Maybe make it faded out, less sketched in.. i dunno. That's one advantage to coloring, you don't have to include outlines. And there are no outlines in nature.
*shrug*
besides that, nice image. hands are an awesome way to learn, after you've mastered hands, everything else (besides mebe the body) is easy to learn.

I see what you mean about the thumb. And also, its not supposed to be fire... it's more like antimatter. Think of a pink glow =). And can you tell me what i did wrong with posting the image link?
thankie

Some webspace providers dont allow outside linking of images etc... so you should look for another space to upload you images to when you want to post them here...
http://www.xoasis.com is a good place..

For a month of drawing you are doing very well. Ive done a quick over-sketching just to show you the anatomy issues you need to focus on.
the green lines are the basic cylindrical shapes that make up the hand...
the red lines are the contours the hand takes.
hope this help you out.

Good start. An important thing to remember, is that objects don't just have sillohettes, but form as well. It's a good habit to make sure you know the full 3d form for what you are drawing, like the hand, remember that the fingers have a certain depth, as well as length and width. |
