hi, just wondering what people think as well as if anyone has any suggestions... (crosswinds.net doesn't allow the files to be accessed externally, so you're going to have to drag the link to see the pix... sorry fer the inconvenience!)

here's the concept sketch (or layout, anyways... :P)

it's basically a soldier on watch in the jungle smoking a cigarette at night (a big no-no, as any good soldier knows :P), with a spec-ops guy behind him, revealed just barely by the glow of the moon as well as the lit cigarette, about to whack him with a silenced pistol... some c&c and suggestions... not sure whether to shift the spec-ops guy to the right so the m-16 doesn't cover his face, or anything else anyone can suggest...

and here's a sketch of the guy's hand

it's the first time i'm trying my hand (no pun intended) at drawing a semi-realistic hand, so i need some c&c...

thanks, i'm hoping this will turn out cool... the pic i have in my head is pretty cool, so i'm hoping for the best...

thanks,
teck

That hand is sweet!
Nice form.
I would only suggest that you made the ring finger a little short, or the pinkie too long. Kinda hard to tell which fingers are which.

Did you use your own hand.?

hey elam,

jeez, you're right, i think the pinky's fine, but i definitely made the ring finger too short... in fact, now that i look at it again after your comment, i realized that the index finger's too short, too! gonna have to fix that... :P

does anyone think i should move the spec-ops guy, or should i leave him as is? here's a better pic of the concept sketch (i inked over the main lines so it would look clearer... forgive the linework, but i'm using a touchpad... :P)
clearer concept sketch

regards,
teck

the fingers are all too long.

the distance from the tip of the middle finger to its knuckle is about the same as the distance from that knuckle to the base of the hand. keep that in mind when drawing hands.
