It's probably a better approach to fill in all the colors at the beginning and then start shading from there, you need to see it overall to get a better idea of how it all works together.
Also, you need to be consistant with the shading - conpare for example the dark side of the face with the lighting on the hands. Now it might be that the scene has some lights on the hands, but if that isn't apparent then it's the wrong approach.
