As I'm cast away in Europe for a few weeks and unable to upload the finished pieces till I'm back home *sigh*, here's a shot of the "in progress" thing as it was like several weeks ago. Bad jpg but hey... I'll be back with a cool digi camera :p

Her right hand, holding folds behind her.

An older pict, showing the profile. Gawd, this camera sucks. What a fish-eye effect :)
Any other figurinists apart Exo and me ?

Wow, that is so beautiful. Would love to hear how you made it, techniques, tools etc.
I just love the detail, your using Super Sculpey, right?
Are you working as a professional figurinist?
Sold any figures?

A lot of questions :)

Hurry back home. I want to see how it looks like now :)

Really impressive work!

Hey hey ! I've seen some of your stuff before ! (I knew it was the same artist just by looking at your top pic) That "Tarod" piece made quite an impression in my memory eheehee

She's got a lovely hand and a striking figure. Can't wait to see it finished
Btw, do you leave your pieces white or paint them after ? I really prefer them plain. And um, just to make sure, I think I read somewhere that you were using plaster sheets as a medium, right ? (I'm not sure how you call those things but rolls of fabric/plaster like they use on a broken limb)

P.S.: I'd absolutely love to see somekind of a tutorial from you sometime. .. hint wink nudge webpage ?

wow thats beautiful. I tried sculpting 2 figurs embracing once out of plaster, it was so hard to think of things in 3d for me, how big is it? sorry if I missed that part. I can't imagine the details on the face being done on a tiny figure.

Exo > Thanks a lot :) About techniques and all, I thought it could be cool to open a forum of some sort, maybe another ezboard.. that would be cool to share tips and all. Dunno if they're already some but as soon as I'm back to Montreal, I'll open one nevertheless.
I use Super Sculpey or Milliput for detailed part but as I intend to work long enough :) I don't want to turn allergic to those darn epoxy resins.. so I try and use most of the time Alabaster. Of course, it means making dried cubes of Alabaster and sculpt them (from up to down) and not starting with a skeletton and model them from down to up... I found a rather nifty material called "Darwi", it's apparently from Belgium and I try and bring back some as often as I can. It's a plaster paste, just like modelling paste but self hardening. White, cool and skin/health friendly... yay ! When it's dry, it's really really hard and you can carve it like real alabester.. way cool.

Jezebel > Thankie Jez :) I hope more will join.

Icannon > Thanks Ica :) I have several pieves "around" the LoTR in project. They were supposed to be bought and published by a Canadian Company.. but the guys went bankrupt before signing. Lucky me :) I'll make them nonetheless and present them to other companies.. You never know.

Egerie > Thankie for tracing me down LOL. Well, Tarod was an ooooooold affair, full of defects and very "toonish" but it was published nonetheless by Fenryll, a few years ago. It was a nice experience :)
I love hands. Hands are the part I'd love to make everyday, the whole day :) They're made with Milliput (but I could use Duro too.. the green stuff)
I usually leave my pieces white because they're meant to be "masters". Then, I make molds and cast a few resins or alabaster copies. Those are the ones I paint. But it's just a hobby to go through longish canadian winters :) Next year, I intend to be more active in the figurines Cons... Darn, must work :p There are too many talented ones out there.
I won't say anything about the nudgnudgewinkwink webpage... I procrastinate.*l* what a shame.

Aiko Ito > Thanks for the compliments ! Size goes from 54mm to 180 mm (1/10). Galadrielle is 180 mm. That's a size I'm really happy with, even though I tend to like 90mm (1/20) more and more. Matter of taste in fact...

! I hadn't noticed you were from montreal (?)until you mentionned long canadian winters lol
I won't stalk you honest Was just wondering where you get your art furniture ? Dessie ? "Omer C'est-Cher" ? Or haul back everything from europe ? *thinks of relatives to invite over who could spare a few KGs of luggage* mhhh..

I once tried a material that was soft to work with and dried pretty quickly only with air and then becomes hard as plaster (but less friable/breakable). Unfortunately, I was modeling a hand (I too love hands. first thing I notice on ppl) and the exterior dried out too quick. the interior was still soft and it felt like working on a boneless and lifeless bodypart. Creeped me out a bit. Not working with that stuff anytime soon. erch.

As for the webpage it's ok as long as you keep working and showing everyone here your stuff eh. And I would be interested about that ezboard.
