Anyone got any suggestions? Kind of stuck at the moment. Supposed to end used in a desktop background. Repaints and suggestions happily accepted and may the deadline gods smile brightly on you for your help.

Thanks, it does seem a bit lonely doesn't it? Now to think of something interesting to add. Man my brain is dead right now. I've never really done landscapes before. I'm sure it shows.

Nice piece so far.
I could be wrong, but I think that if the distant tower or figure where made bigger it would solve the 'empty' feel and yet enhance the feeling of desolation. |

Oh, that's looking *worlds* better. You may like/hate the clouds, but I love them. And the city in the distance is delicious. |

Heya man,
First off, I *REALLY* like this. It looks so peaceful and calm. Great job.
I couldn't resist doing a really quick overpaint to check out the composition. I honestly have no clue if this looks any better to me than your original, but I just had to play with that space. :P Anyway, I hope I haven't offended you:
Take it easy bro. |

Hey. Feel free to paint over anytime. I like the guy closer to the foreground there.
Thanks for all the compliments and such. A lot of people seem to think it's a sandy place. I could always say that was my intention but it really wasnt. Part of its the color and part is the lack of detail to the hills, thus giving them more of a sand look. Think I need to fix that or do you guy like it?
I am also thinking of putting something REALLY close to the camera but am afraid it will lose some of its feel. Might just do it and take a consensus. Maybe a big lone tree, all gnarled and stuff like was suggested.
Wish I had saved some in progress shots that were earlier on. My next one I will be sure to.
Here is a link to the background as it is so far.
AoA Background 1 - 1024 x 768
Added a few more details. Almost done. Might add in the steamish stuff rising off the water like in snarfs. |
