This pic took well over 6 hours... I used a photoreference out of a national geographic.. although i didnt really stick to it much. It was more of an ispiration.. It had a really kewl atmosphere about it. Although my image has much more water.
Ill post it once i reinstal my scanner..
There are a few things out of wak here and there perspective is a little off.. but im rather pleased with it..
anyway id like to hear what you think
Thanks..
I may write a tutorial on this picture..

Your leaves look great. I like the pic too.
My only crit is that I think the water in the foreground looks like it was painted by someone else. I mean, it looks like it was done by using a different technique (motion blur?). oh yeah, maybe add some deep brown/red in the foreground to help balance all that green.
you wanted to hear what I thought... |

yeah, that's pretty nice. I'll be doing a lot of stuff along these lines in the near future, cause i'm doing a children's book that plays in the south american rainforest.
one criticism i have about this pic is that the transition from still water to blurred waterfall water is too rough. i see the effect all the time in stock photography, these blurred waterfalls look really dreamy, but i don't think they fit in a picture where there's a lot of still life (and still water, too!) anyway, i like the way you played with different tones of green! you put more bluish tones in the back, that's a good thing to do, apparently.
also, the yellowish tones in the front look very good.
you've got a nice technique making leaves so they look natural. i don't think i recognize any plants from my research though i miss some more epiphytes (i hope i got this word right), i.e. plants planted on other plants. there are some in your pic, but i believe they are much more common in most rainforests (madagascar, south america, indonesia etc)
i really like this, it inspires me a great deal! |

*snake bite*
ow!
nice pic, I enjoy how the lighting breaks out - about the water, well to us other digital artists our eyes are picking up the motion blurry thing right away and we want to protest - but then again if you are going for a 'moment in time' look... |

nice freddio ! Probably my fav. from your work. Actually I like the prev versions better. Or maybe not the plants and trees, but the water had a bit more surface in them. I think you could keep it smoother like you have, but it needs some indication of surface and waver, flush and drops. It looks like it moves rather quickly as how you painted it, so then I think that would make a bit improvement. But, great job freddio. |

Well persoanly I think this version looks better...that plants and trees for sure. I think the water in this pic looks better but the forground water looks like it is rushing to much at once...but hey if there is a sharp decline right past the picture it would look like that..anyways nice work!! |

I liked the way you "cleaned up" the water from when I saw it the other day. It has a little bit more of a fluid feel than the previous grainy texture. One thing that does stand out a little is the transition from 'still water' to the left of the tree branch to the 'free flowing water' on the right hand side of the tree branch in the center of the screen. Particularly on the right hand side, the depth of the water seems a little ackward. Still a fantastic image. |
