i think this is better than your previous attempts. the thing that bothers me is the neutral expression on his face. he kind of looks like a zombie.

Actually it looks to me as if he is just thinking deep thoughts.

The only things that really bugs me is the strange shape of the hill behind him, especially where the two trees meet right above his head.

To me it also looks as if he was in deep thoughts. I like the picture a lot, but it is evident you weren't as careful on the background as on the character, which is quite natural. There 's too little grass and too much green area

Just an idea, what about trying this picture in a night mood? Him looking at the stars and everything all dark.

Looks already a lot better! Two of the trees still look as if they would right fall on him though

I'd go for some more contrast in the background, both the grass and the trees are a bit uniform.

Also the trees could maybe use some more texture.

But the character itself is really well done, I love it's look.
