hey thats some mighty sweet colouring there. i dont really see any major issues with it, but if you want me to get picky. i think version of snake-eyes' uniform was black or dark grey and not blue, but it really doesnt matter. |

I like the blue Snake-Eyes.. brings back memories of the cartoon version. But, he is supposed to be black/grey. Be careful with rendering every little area. J.Scott does that adlib anatomy stuff, so not everything should stand out. Snake's arm in particular. Not so sure about the color hold on the hair. If you do it you should think of the lineart as being your darkest tone. i.e. the darkest tone on Duke's hair wouldn't be an orange.
You have a lot of good things going on here, but it looks like you didn't take the time to follow some things through. The reflective lighting and cast shadows for examples. You have this pretty purple light only hitting Snake-eyes and Shipwreck. Hitting Snake's arm hard and his leg soft then hard again on Shipwreck. The cast shadows could use a little more defining.
Overall you are heading in the right direction. Your rendering is still improving and you have a definite style. |

Thank you Capn. I am a fool. A simple cave-man like myself can't possibly understand how to work this magic box. I've tried to coax the fairy's that I believe live in it, to help me, but they won't seem to respond.
Topeira.
Oww. That hurts. |

I touched up some issues that have been brought up.
Blue vs, Black. It's been my experiance that using black as a solid color is bad. It creates a color void. If I had used black here, the entire focus of this image would be on Snake-eyes. Using blue to represent black in this fashion allows the balance to be maintained.
Color holds. They are definately something I like. You are right, that I did them too light, and didn't do enough of them to create a balance. They stuck out. In the edit, I darkened them up more. So they are considerable darker then the form, but still colored.
The secondary light is hitting everything. But the blue of snakeeyes and shipwreck contrasted more and made it more noticible. I touched up Shipwreck. |
