This was done for a theme at Francis' forum. It is a mobile anti-aircraft unit. What sucks? What's good? I have a problem with drawing vehicles, they look like Fisher Price designs.

Nothing wrong with Fisher Price designs, toy companies pay alright for design work you know...

Seriously, I would recommend buying a few robot toys to get a feel for how joints and pivots work. The only part of the legs that would actually work in this design is the shaft that extends the front legs forward. You have provided no joints on the knees, and the hips and ankles are permanently set into posion at one angle.

If I were you, I'd go out and buy some Masamune Shirow or Sid Mead art books, and look at how they joint their creations. You could even pick up a few robotic vehicle toys at Toys 'r Us to get a feel for functional range of motion.

As far as the drawing style goes, I like it. It has a loose, not to confined to the straight- edge look to it. Just to be anal, if you're going to letter a technical drawing like this, make sure it's straight.

sup ako
i like you it looks dude. definatly digging the bear claw feet its got.
i think if you want it to look less fisher-price, you should try to add a little more texture to it. the reason it looks liek that is cause the metal isn't textured like metal, more like plastic. metal has more of a shine to it, and more contrast depending on where the light source is coming from. get it?

sweet design man

Nice design. The only thing that I notice is that your shading on the dark side of the device isn't consistent. The darker panels look fine, but the lighter panels should be a little darker.

I appreciate the straightforward crits. They are the only way I will progress.

Jenn- Hehe, thanks

Red Leader-Thank you! I need to be a bit more functional with my design, I take it for granted everything works, even though it doesn't look like it does. I will take a look at some of those books. Much appreciated.

geoman-Once I figure out prismas better, I'll tackle some texture action, but for now, I suck Thx and see ya at Painchat.

Breakerboy2- Thx man, I'll be more consistent next time colorwise.

Cos-Thx man
